Window Tint Percentages and Pictures

I'm sure there is a thread here for this but I can't search on my phone. I still have not received my camaro yet but am planning on getting the windows tinted when I get it. I am only allowed 35% here in WA state so was hoping for some pics maybe some of you have with that same percentage. But feel free to post pics of darker or lighter too :)

mikeSS 10-14-2010 12:26 AM

go dark... 5% or 20%

Mine's Limo tint all around and front visor too. I believe its 5%

Sc0rPs 10-14-2010 01:32 AM

I have limo in the back three, passenger & driver are not done... yet.

Mcameron 10-14-2010 01:41 AM

I live in oregon and its 35 percent here too but if you wanna be a rebel I would def go with 20. 35 is just too light IMO, 20 looks a lot better.

Mr CLuTcH 10-14-2010 04:00 AM

I have limo (5%) all around; back window and side windows. I decided not to tint the windshield because I wanted to actually be able to see at night!

Hemlawk 10-14-2010 04:52 AM

5% is too much.
I'll probably got with 15% on the back window & 25% on the sides.
NJ cops are a pain with it....

hrpiii 10-14-2010 06:02 AM

correct, depends on how much you feel you can get away with, and if not, you don't mind a ticket here and there.

This is 35% tint on the side windows and the rear window. MN is a 50% state. 35% looks really dark when compared to 50%.

Keep in mind that the Camaro has small windows, so the tint appears darker as well.

One last thing, the windows already have tinted glass from the factory. So when I put on my 35% tint, my windows actually tested at 28%.

I think a lot of it depends on what color your car is on the outside as to how dark your windows look too.

CamaroNewb 10-14-2010 06:26 AM

Mine is 20% all the way around

Those lowered cars look sinister. I love that with the tint.

WTFCamaro1979 10-14-2010 10:00 AM

Wow thanks for the replies guys, they all look really good.

rolnslo 10-14-2010 10:30 AM

I went with Formula One Pinnacle Series ceramic tint. 35% on doors, 15% on quarter and rear windows. Not quite as dark as I'd like but keeps me legal and still looks good.

One thing to keep in mind is that pictures can be deceiving as to the perceived darkness of tint. Depending on how I have my polarizing filter set on my camera, I can have black windows (last pic) or I can have the windows appear lighter (first pic). You really need to see samples of the actual tint you are going to use on an actual car before committing to getting the install done.

Florida is 28% and I went with 15% on my SS ... With the factory tint, I'm around 8% ... And yes at night I tend to drive with my windows down as much as possible ...

kaler 10-14-2010 11:54 AM

30% side,1/4 and rear. 50% windshield. The 50% on the windshield darkened every thing up a hair and looks great IMOP.

Wow just got back from going down to a tint shop and looked at the 35 percent and its not very dark at all. A few of your pics up with 35 looked alot darker than in person. Uggg hard choice for sure.

Tantalizer43 10-14-2010 02:12 PM

Completely personal preference.....

I had the same dilemma, and spent countless days and weeks debating what shade.....

My advice, I would not go any lighter than 20%. I also would not go any darker than 15%.

Mine is 20, it IS illegal in Ohio but I have not ahd a problem. Vision at night can be just a tad difficult, but can compensate and adjust rather easily.

I like my windows at 20%.

Take it for what it's worth....

cab2g 10-14-2010 02:35 PM

I have 38% tint plus the 93% factory pre-tint I get a total of 31% tint. Which is technically legal in IL because they have a +/-5% grace written into the law. I wish it was a tad darker, if you're willing to risk it. I'd agree to go with 20% It's not too dark really and it adds privacy. People can still easily see if I am picking my nose with 31% tint.

I had darker tint on my truck, I don't remember what % but I think it was 20 or 25 and it was much more private. I did not have a hard time seeing at night either.

ScottieBlkSS 10-14-2010 04:56 PM

Here is a pic of mine, Mine is Carbon 18% all way around and 35% on entire windsheild... I like it, its perfect for day and night..

Not a great shot of mine. I have 35% (legal limit in NC), would have liked 20% but didn't want the hassle of a possible violation or removal if caught. It actually appears darker on a darker colored car.
