About time! No more speculation.
Very brief though and no added insight.
Now a Z convertible?

Chevrolet will revive its high-performance Camaro Z28 as a 2012 model

Chevrolet will revive its high-performance Camaro Z28 as a 2012 model, giving it a supercharged version of the current Camaro SS' V8 engine with between 500 and 600 horsepower, two people familiar with the plans said.

General Motors is riding the momentum of its current Camaro coupe's sales dominance over the Ford Mustang. The Camaro, revived in April 2009 after ending production in 2002, is poised to beat the Mustang in sales this year for the first time since 1985.
GM plans to launch the Camaro Z28 late next year or early in 2012, with an engine that will likely displace 6.2 liters. A convertible Camaro launches in February.
The Mustang already has a coupe, a convertible and several V8 models that include the supercharged Shelby GT500. Another V8 model, the Mustang Boss 302, arrives in the spring, hearkening back to the Boss 302 Mustang from 1969.
GM spokesman Pat Morrissey said the company does not comment on future vehicle plans.
GM introduced the Z28 with its first Camaro in 1967 and offered it in all but six years of the car's original three and a half decades of production, according to GM's Heritage Center.
The convertible should give Camaro even more sales momentum next year after its strong showing this year.
Through November, GM has sold 71,521 Camaros, and the car's sales have climbed 51.4%. That puts sales of the Camaro 7,350 cars ahead of the Mustang. It's unlikely Ford can catch up in December, given that Ford has sold an average of 5,800 Mustangs a month this year.
"We have a plan that is right for our business," said Ford spokeswoman Angie Kozleski. "Our focus is not on a sales race."
Still, Kozleski pointed out that Mustang also is having a good year. Its sales are up 13.6% through November.

just cause it's leaking doesn't mean it will be. there could be a number of reasons the product is delayed, cancelled or changes direction. I do believe a Z28 will live and soon. but until it's an official press release it's not official. hate to say that but it's true.

radz28 12-03-2010 09:37 AM

My hopes are still high, but this article isn't official :(

Thank you for sharing though :D I believe the more interest is stirred, the more likely we'll show GM we want this car :D
