NEC5 visits Adam!

To those that don't know some of us that hadn't yet mothballed our Camaro's for the year went to visit a young boy named Adam. Hap aka YouEnvyMySS brought his story to our attention. He has Muscular Dystrophy and has just been through a surgery on his legs and was feeling kid of down so we decided to cheer him up a bit.

This is his story.http://www.projo.com/news/content/TH...6.3894483.html

Some High-res pictures are on the NEC55 Facebook page here.

That was awesome! I wish I could have seen the look on his face! It was a good turnout. 7 Camaros.

congrats to you guys, looked like you made Adam's day.

R6P 12-11-2010 06:03 PM

Looks like you had a good turnout, and lifted Adam's spirits a bit.
Wish I could have joined in, I had to work. :(

I feel like a terd for not making this. Adam musta had a cool time. You guys rock for doing such a good thing.

LadiesMan217 12-11-2010 10:24 PM

I wish I could've made it...looks like it was a good time.

v6sonoma 12-12-2010 02:39 AM

Don't worry. Those of you that missed out will have another chance in the spring. We are planning on organizing some sort car show next year. ;)

I think his favorite part was seeing that poolball on v6sonoma's shifter. He wanted to see everyone else's pool balls, but sadly there was only one... I think that's why he picked yours to ride in.

What can I say. The kid has good taste! :D

P.S. That was pretty fun at the end there! LOL Not 100% sure how fast I was going. The low fuel light took over the speed in the center. I'm pretty sure the last 2 digits were around 35.

PAUL SS 12-12-2010 10:21 AM

Nice turnout guys, thanks for posting the pictures. I think in the spring we can knock his socks off.

YES YES WE CAN..

AND glad to see the turnout..Just seeing the pictures and knowing he had a good time I think we can pull of something for him and for awareness and suport to maybe help the next person so they do not have to go through what he is.

I though for a second that i'd be able to hang, but you started walking away from me... I guess I'll have to realize I'm driving a V6 someday. It was fun though.

You kept right up. That V6 is still a pretty potent engine. :chevy:

I just bought a #3 poolball shifter knob from Hot Rod Girl... is that where you got your #5?

Yup. Nice! The only thing is it comes with a rubber insert but the rubber has to much play in it. So I replaced it with a plastic piece from another shift knob I had lying around.

looks like a good day to bad my camaro is still in pieces.

I said it in the other thread, but I'll say it again - my hat's off to you guys for organizing and doing this. I'm with Charlie - I wish I could have been there.

When you say the last two digits were 35...am I to assume that the first digit was a 1? Where exactly did you take him? Was his mom with you too? That's funny!

Oh, and not for nothing, it's too bad you guys didn't make the news...not for the Camaros or the publicity, but just because a local club did a nice thing for this boy...we never hear enough "good" news, we'll only hear about the teen who wraps himself around a tree after a night of partying and that he was driving a Camaro...you get the idea...

LadiesMan217 12-13-2010 11:24 AM

Wait...you hit 135 with him in the car?!?!?!? LOL

That's a lot faster than any rollercoaster he's been on.

The um er "35" was just with Chuck. I didn't go to crazy with Adam. Just a nice burnout and some aggressive 2nd gear "acceleration tests" I think at most we might have hit 60.

Dr Jkel 12-13-2010 01:33 PM

Awesome Story, Nice to see people do good things, especially in today's society when all you hear is bad things.

Maybe you switched it over to metric and it said 135kph. Cool though, sorry I couldn't make it. Looked like you had a good time, and I can't wait to go to the car show in the spring.

shad2009 12-14-2010 12:11 PM

Wished i could have been there...are you guys thinking of doing this in the warm weather also??
