Hi there everyone

I, like the many other new members of the board, thought i should introduce myself:) i realize i'm not old enough to drive, but camaro plays somewhat of a role in my everyday life. my dad owns a 97 camaro and still uses it to this day with over an outstanding 300,000 miles on it and it still works like a charm!! as far as im concerned the camaro is probably one of the most durable cars out there! kudos to whoever made this forum. i love it!

Welcome to the site! We're glad to have you here and when that day comes, even if it's not a 5th Gen, hopefully you'll see yourself in a Camaro.

Hello and welcome.

Mr. Wyndham 07-27-2007 10:31 PM

Yes, Welcome. And it's nice to hear about the 300,000+ mile car. Why, because that's not the first time I've heard that about a Camaro! Incredible!

;) MerF, I still can't get over that quote of mine, I can't believe I typed it... I actually forgot what I had said, so I had to link to find out....

MerF 07-27-2007 10:57 PM

It will be there until someone else makes me laugh out loud like that.

Mr. Wyndham 07-27-2007 11:18 PM

300,000 on a Camaro!? Yes! I'd love to see what my fellow Honda owners would have to say about that.

Welcome to the board!

SoFlaZ 07-28-2007 09:54 PM

Are sure the engine hasn't been rebuilt at any point??

Anyway, WELCOME!!!

Mr. Wyndham 07-28-2007 09:57 PM

I don't know about her car, specifically, but the one I was reffering to belonged to a guy that had trouble with oil changes.

Granted, by the time he got rid of it, the T-Top center bar, had rusted through (crumbled under his fingers), but I guess the engine was still running strong.

camarogrl42 07-29-2007 01:01 PM

hahah! i was talking to my dad last night when he got home about it. he said he's never replaced the engine or anything, just replaced the oil when he should've, no secrets here :P

SoFlaZ 07-29-2007 01:26 PM

WOW thats great. My father has a 96 Z28 and is almost at 200K miles and still going strong.

Welcome to the board!

My father had two 1991 Toyota pickups both with over 300k miles on the same engine. He only changed the oil and had minor tuneups done. Nothing broke.

Also, he's had 3 mercedes (300 TD, 2x 300D) all built in 1979.

The camaro makes the third brand that has accomplished this that I know of.

camarogrl42 07-29-2007 09:09 PM

wow i didnt kno mercedes and toyota were also durable like a camaro.
woo camaro!

Mr. Wyndham 07-29-2007 11:49 PM

Flukes...

Silverado is known to get mid 200,000 miles, so far as I know. Look at all those ancient Silverado's driving around.
But to have Camaro able to do that is indeed something to be proud of.

SoFlaZ 07-30-2007 08:21 PM

If the Mercedes' were diesel, they should last for a very long time. Any diesel should outlast a gasoline engine by a lot.

welcome! I hope I get the camaro too once I am old enough to drive..... :burnrubber:
