Note to prospective sunroof buyers

I was reading some sunroof threads and I was kind of shocked when I heard people say they are (anywhere from 5"10-6"2) complaining of headroom and some saying it's impossible to be comfortible.

I am 6"5 1/2 and can say FOR SURE that if you make the proper seat adjustments , THERE IS PLENTY OF ROOM and it's very comfortable and there's nothing like letting the roof back and letting the SHARK FIN stick out :chevy::chevy::chevy::chevy:

6'5 = LOVE MY SUNROOF

CRChevy 02-19-2011 06:38 PM

And I also didn't know what a reverse mohawk was until a week ago when my brother in law showed me on his SS (we are neighbors I never noticed it). I have never noticed it and am sure 100% of non-camaro drivers don't either lol

I have a sunroof and love the thang......I learned about the "Mohawk" on a post no less. So Imathinking your right....gotta know the car to see it.

Casper has the sunroof and im 5-10. I have no problems sitting inside of Casper. Very comfortable. I have smacked my head a few times but only because my wife is 5-6 and sometimes she moves the seat around.

SHOULD WE read this like ,,,, tall guy + short wife + camaro = HEADACHE :w00t:

The height issue aside, isn't the overhead integrity of the structure reduced by a sunroof in the same way a convertible top does, only less so? I'm thinkin' of how the sunroof would require a roll cage at a lower speed pass than a solid roofed car. What are the NHRA rules regarding sunroofs?

camarobh 02-19-2011 08:19 PM

Love my sunroof!

LED Crazy 02-19-2011 08:22 PM

6' 5" and I am a proud sunroof owner lol

Alain 02-19-2011 10:28 PM

Of course you didn't notice the reverse mohawk, you didn't HAVE one. How you gonna notice it if you don't have it?

I'd love to have ordered mine with a sunroof, and wanted to. Till I saw the first pics with the sunroof open. Just looks cheap as hell to me when it's open.

stevea 02-20-2011 07:11 AM

I love mine and use it all the time.

Eich 02-20-2011 07:24 AM

I'm 6'2" and more of my height comes from my body than my legs. I sat in a sunroof SS and put the seat as far down as it would go and could feel my hair hitting the headliner unless I reclined the seat more than I wanted to. Wearing a hat seemed out of the question.

Jus1dab 02-20-2011 07:45 AM

No problem at all. Love it.

MUSCLEIT 02-20-2011 07:55 AM

NO PROBLEMS HERE...NEXT BEST THING TO A RAG TOP...:chevy:

tw3ss 02-20-2011 08:08 AM

:chevy:6'3" and no problem with head room!!

OrangeFury 02-20-2011 08:27 AM

6'3" and no issues here. Reverse Mohawk is the most overrated thing I have ever seen. I laugh at people that think the general public notice it or know what it is when one of the most asked questions I get from strangers is whether I have a V6 or V8.

first one 02-20-2011 09:29 AM

Love mine! No problem with the height and the car looks even better with the sunroof open.

mhood 02-20-2011 09:34 AM

Is it enough to say that you're 6'3" tall? Shouldn't we be talking about the legs to torso ratio?

Camaro8810 02-20-2011 09:34 AM

Love my Sun Roof as well although I'm only 5'8"

1BADLS3 02-20-2011 10:15 AM

Negative, ghost rider.

Some people (like me) who are 6'3" even with the seat adjusted all the way to the floor and the seatback uncomfortably reclined are still within head-rubbing territory of the roof. It all depends on the length of your torso. Mine just happens to be vertically proportioned more than most.

lets_go_bills 02-20-2011 10:38 AM

I'm 6'1" and the way I like my seat had the top of my head grazing the roof. Without the sunroof, I've got and inch or two. Yes, it depends on how you sit, but I'm not willing to compromise my comfort and back just so I can have a useless hole in my roof.

Plus there are different kinds of "tall". If your height is all legs, it may not affect you whereas if you're a friggin giant all around, it may.

It's most certainly a case by case situation. In mine, the sunroof simply wasn't an option.

Tricky's SS 02-20-2011 10:55 AM

I believe gm made the sunroof an option, because not everybody likes them, or wants one.

No doubt.

It does turn out to be highly over-rated. It was why I originally wasn't gonna order with the sunroof. I loved the reverse mohawk look but wanted a sunroof. So I was torn. Then I saw the sunroof open. :barf:

My mind was made up.

But, I wouldn't say people don't notice it. Sure, nobody has ever run up to me and said "Man, I just wanted to tell you I LOVE your roof"

But, in talking about the car, I've had several people say they liked it better than the sun roof. And not becasue I asked. Just stuff they'd say standing around talking.

I so wish the sunroof was done better. I'd have ordered it. It's one thing missing as far as I'm concerned. Just think the sunroof on THIS car is hideous when opened.

I guess bald/balding men can all now say that they too have reverse mohawks!
