What Kind of Power Are Camaros Making at 10 psi?

Just wondering if there is a significant increase in power between 7psi and 10psi.. I want to know hp/tq 10psi is making at the rear wheel.

Just put on whipple from jannetty racing. He sent me tune on the sct tuner. 10psi Car puts down 672 rwhp & 590tq. Ted knows his stuff. Car runs strong.

Are you running the stock internals with 10 psi?

Supercharged SS 06-02-2011 10:11 PM

On a bone stock L99 we put down 550/500 at 10 psi (TVS 2300). Also a Jannetty car and damn on the Whipple!! Those things are no joke!!

Brad7294 06-02-2011 10:22 PM

Yes,only change inside was blower cam.

calbert1999 06-02-2011 10:24 PM

Depends on the type of SC you use, and how good the tuner is. I know lot's of guys including myself making more than 670rwhp. on less than 10psi. boost @ 6000rpm. My vehicle makes 690rwhp. on less than 7.5psi. and 740rwhp. on 8.5psi. will also depend on other factors like CAI, headers, CAM, exhaust, etc....

halo8hkk 06-02-2011 10:26 PM

Nice numbers. GO WHIPPLE:D

Brad7294 06-02-2011 10:28 PM

Good point. All depends what charger you are using. Great numbers on that procharger!

Cars in the shop right now getting a Whipple. The shop installing and tuning(Haddad Motorsports) says I'll just "kiss" 10PSI and should at least make 600hp to the ground.

Brad7294 06-02-2011 10:39 PM

Whipple.Good choice. Put cam in it!

I'll do it the same time the bottom end gets forged. then i can shot for 800+ HP

Brad7294 06-02-2011 10:45 PM

Even better!

Turbo99 06-02-2011 10:50 PM

I sure would like to start seeing some track times and trap speeds for all there so claimed 650-700 hp cars......... because I think there are a bunch of dyno queens and prolly really are not that high.

What size pulley? I'm running the 3.75" I guess the stock size is 4".

Brad7294 06-02-2011 11:03 PM

It is 3.875

hmmm seems like everyone is running superchargers, any reason any of you decided against turbo?

oh and thanks for the feedback, seems these cars are capable of more than i thought

Caliman93230 06-02-2011 11:44 PM

with the whipple s/c you can be up in the 600rwhp with a good tune, that's what mine did no other mods, just a muffler delete, about 9-10 lbs boost. whats so grate about the whipple is that the discharge temps a really low thus you can play with the timing. and because its a bigger blower its pumping cooler air as well, there are some guys pushing 700wrhp with a cam, cai and headers, not that its recomended on a stock bottom end but you get the picture, Im sure you can get the whipple and 418 forged motor to push 800 rwhp on pump gas

boostedyards86 06-02-2011 11:46 PM

my numbers are in my sig on 7psi car is on 10psi now and feels alot stronger.

Yah, Haddad said if I go forged bottom end it's useless unless were putting down 800 ponies. I just want to break 600 for now.

forplay 06-02-2011 11:48 PM

 break 600.... me to... Damn I need a cam !!

I haven't seen to many Camaros with turbos. I know ChvyBoss won a turbo kit at camaro fest. Well see what it's like when it's installed.

forplay 06-02-2011 11:51 PM

I dont like the lag.. had a grand national... quick as hell... but a dud at kickdown.. unless you built up boost.. :confused0068:

For me weight was a factor, it's a heavy car and IMO needs that low end torque to get it going. Heat was a factor as well, given my location I wanted an application that had better heat management than is typical of a turbo. I learned that with my last car. My car is a bit faster than several camaros I know that have more power then me. Their challenge is it takes them way to long to make their peak power. I hit mine damn quick. But you know what the say about opinions.

the most s/c are carb legal and you can pass smog, low end torq is what people want in these heavy cars, s/c give you the low end torq you need to putt a smile in your face at the touch of the throttle, turbos cool if you have a light car, there are really good turbo kits out there but most people like the practical use the s/c
