Is extra power of the SS really worth it?

I have an option to basically give my 2011 Camaro 2LT/RS to my brother. In exchange, he will buy a brand new 2011 Camaro 2SS/RS and trade me cars. I am only 19 but I work full time and can support the car payment without any hassle at all. The thing I want to know is, is the extra power from the SS worth the extra money? The catch is, the car payment would be a little more than the $500 a month payment I am currently paying and that I will have to pay 100% of my insurance. Something I would also like to know is how much the rates are for a 19 year old with a brand new V8 Camaro. Any help is appreciated. Thanks camaro5er's.

The only person that can answer that for you, is you. If you want the power of it and can afford it, then do it. If you can't, then don't and save and then eventually get one.

I suppose whether it is worth it depends on what you think about the price difference. Best thing to do is check some insurance company web sites to get the price for insurance.

i wouldnt do it unless you can handle the extra car payment + extra gas + possible 100-200 extra per month for insurance....could be a little more or undoable more.

if ur spending almost all ur money on the car to upgrade, keep the v6, you wont use the v8 power anyways, sure it's probably more fun but you won't get the full difference used very often.

I was getting 373 to the ground stock in my manual.

He wants a V6 because he is 16. A V6 is plenty for him to handle.

I appreciate the other info guys. I know that I have the only say, but I just wanted to know if the jump between the SS and RS is a big difference.

its more than the power, its the sounds, and feel of the car. yes its worth it.

Like others have said only you can make that decision to many the only option for them is a V8 they would not even consider a V6 I was that way with this car until I drove the V6 I purchased a V6 I am happy with it I did not need the V8 I already have one in the garage. In all all honesty where and when are you going to use the power the cars are the same on the outside it's just under the hood that is the difference. See how much insurance will cost you from your insurance company.
