We have tested the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS. A red one with the six-speed manual transmission. We tested it on the street and we put it through our battery of track tests, including 0-60-mph and quarter-mile acceleration runs. Is it quicker than a Mustang GT? Can it out-handle and out-muscle a Dodge Challenger SRT8?

2Scoops 03-20-2009 06:09 PM

It's 3:05 PST, which means that it's also 6:05 EST.... unless I've suffered some severe head trauma in the past few hours. Anyway, the damn site has no reviews and no video... WTF??!!?!?!!

Motortrend got theirs up and running before Edmunds did.. Here it is below..They say the Automatic SS is at 4.6 0-60 off the line...Faster than the manual..

FenwickHockey65 03-20-2009 06:15 PM

Looks like Motortrend got a 6.0 second 0-60 with the V6/auto...nice.

Supermans 03-20-2009 06:21 PM

The video is up

0-60 in 5 seconds for the V* SS...Let's hope this is just a very bad driver...

That F*ggin' drift at the end was sweet! Great video (minus the hop...)

We need the Stig to drive this baby..I'm sure he can get quicker to 60 than Edmunds can..

fdjizm 03-20-2009 06:30 PM

Mustang Skid pad 0.91g
Camaro Skid paf 0.88g

Mustang Slalom 68.4mph
Camaro Slalom 68.6mph

Mustang 60-0 107ft
Camaro 60-0 109ft

Mustang 0.60 4.9
Camaro 0-60 4.7

Not too shabby camaro :)

I like Motor Trend's article!! They are already singing Camaro's praises!!! (I always liked Motor Trend the best of the main 4 mags) :happyanim: :chevy:

USAFJeeper 03-20-2009 06:33 PM

I am not seeing a new video. I think you are teasing and mocking me. I will now go hug my Camaro spec sheet and cry myself to sleep.

Camarino 03-20-2009 06:33 PM

This confused me a lil in mototrends review,
is he referring to the SS becuz he says 300+HP?

Quote:

In return, fuel efficiency actually goes up: the automatic delivers an EPA rating of 18/29 city/highway mpg. Not too shabby for a 300-plus-horse car, no?
*EDIT*
OK I SEE HE GOES OFF ON A TANGENT ON PAGE 2 ABOUT THE V6 lol...V8 CONTINUES ON PAGE 3

BTW
Quote:

Look out. With the automatic, the SS is actually the quickest off the line, gunning to 60 mph in a scalding 4.6 sec.

Whatever its powertrain guise, the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro feels like a very grown-up, highly polished machine. In many regards, it's more reminiscent of the best sport coupes from Europe and Japan than it is a carrier of the musclecar torch from four decades ago. Should that worry the modern Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang -- potentially even the pricier Nissan 370Z or bluebloods like the Audi S5? It Should Indeed....

guys DO NOT TRUST EDMUNDS...they SUCK ALOT...........they got 5.5 0-60 for the challenger srt8 6 speed.....casr and driver got 4.6 ....dont trust edmunds AT ALL...their testers suck bolas

Angrybird 12 03-20-2009 06:39 PM

Looks like Motor Trend's drivers are better than Edmunds.. either that or that GPS testing meter Edmunds uses isn't very good...

I love what MT said about the V6, makes me glad I am getting it.!!!

The stopping distiance for the V6 and the SS are almost identical.. must be the difference in the weight...

fldrummer 03-20-2009 06:42 PM

Did anyone take note of the fine print in Motortrend's test times for the SS manual? They were all done with the launch control on and the writer actually stated "We found, however, that in skilled hands the car is quicker when human-launched. "This baby has launch control" is a great bragging line, though."

The Edmund's review definitely seems unreliable, given GM's numbers and Motortrend's being on-par with each other. I was hoping for better skidpad #s though. Oh well, at least they're as good as a G35 coupe--not bad for a heavier car.

StoutFiles 03-20-2009 06:44 PM

What worries me is the subpar interior reviews, not so much the 0-60 time.

Edmunds really needs to hire better drivers..

Grimelock2009 03-20-2009 06:52 PM

Lets have Dale Jr test the Camaro and his staff to see what numbers they have.

I think he is pretty good driver

I too WAS worried about the interior of the Camaro.... until I sat in one. It's more of a personal preference thing. All I really cared to hear about were the numbers to see how far off they were from GM's. And I got the info that I needed. Relying on these reviewers to give me their opinions on the interior is about as useless as listening to a movie review. For example, no reviewer ever gave "Super Troopers" four stars, but that's my favorite movie. Just my .02

True, but Super Troopers didn't cost 38K, and you don't have to watch it everyday. Since I don't get to test my 0-60 legally all that often, the interior is pretty important.

TJ91 03-20-2009 07:02 PM

I dont see why they gave these cars with cloth panels again, did you guys read the comment on that?
Anways is great to see the Camaro go drifting around that skidpad
