DIY 3D carbon fender vents installed

39 Attachment(s)
break out the grinder, man long time since sweetness has been under the knife:D, ok, what i have here are the 3Dcarbon fender vents, i really like these, very well made, easy to prep, painted very easy, instruction and template are perfect. i started with a extra fender i had, fit is super.

Its so easy a girl can do it :D:D:yikes::yikes:, thats my daughter :)

Got these awesome vents from BilletAnything :)
Get them here http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=145450

Update 8-10-11, got the first one in, total time 1 hr 45 min:D, if you can handle a die grinder or air saw, your in, no problem. dang if my daughter can cut, why cant you:yikes::paddle::laugh::laugh:, its as easy as it looks. i should be able to knock off 20 min of the other side. again really really easy install, once cut is done, i filed the edges smooth, put some zinc primer on the exposed metal, clean the paint around the edges with alcohal, put on the supplied adhesion promoter. put the double sided tape on the vent and bam, done:D.... Now since i have vertical doors, i have a very slight clearance issue, but its because my door is slightly in compared to the fender, so i will adjust the doors out a bit to make sure they are even and that should fix the problem. i will do the other tomorrow :)

looks awesome Lupe, so two questions. Could we buy these vents through you already painted? Second, is this something that we DIY guys would be able to do?

hey bro, i could paint them for you:), i will be updating the DIY as i go, i might start cutting tonight. is it easy you ask? well look at the pics,:D its so easy a girl can do it :yikes::laugh:,....all kidding aside, if you can use a die grinder, thats it, the template is perfect, make the cut, smooth edges, seal edge's, then with 3M double sided tape it goes in. i will probably add some addition seal along the seam on the inside. here are some pics they (3D carbon) sent me.:)

Looks great Lupe, the template comes with it? And did you paint it or have someone else do it. I see they look like ABS plastic, did you put a clear coat on them too?

Ordered mine early in the week.Waiting for them to show up on my door step.Any problems changing the wire mesh inside the vents?
Bob

overhaulengines 08-19-2011 01:49 PM

hi, no problem, super easy, 2 small screws holding each one on. 2 on each vent. cut out your mesh and reinstall. look closely at the pics above, you can see the 2 small screws :)
