Chevy Bowtie Emblem

Disclaimer: This isn't anti-chevy in any way. I love the camaro and am going to buy one.

I honestly just dont like the giant gold bowtie emblem in the grill. My 4th gen doesn't have them and I love how concise it is. As a matter of contrast, I've shooped out the emblems.

I'll let you be the judge.

to me, the back looks fine bare, but the front reminds me of what people would look like without a nose.

Without a gigantic nose. ;-)

Maybe it would fit more on a black one.

fsuredneck 03-24-2009 09:37 AM

I actually plan on debadging it of all emblems except for the one bowtie on the rear.

ArcAngel 03-24-2009 09:41 AM

I dont mind them I just wish they where a different color like a silver to match the regular badging or a red to match the RS

I think, proportionally, the bowtie on the 2010 is roughly the same size as the bowtie on the '69 grilles.

Black car or black bowtie? I think the red outlined black bowtie may look nice, but we'll have to see.

ArcAngel 03-24-2009 09:51 AM

On certain colors it looks fine on others ehhh

Edrock 03-24-2009 09:55 AM

I kinda like the emblems...:scared0016:

As do I. I guess I just don't see how the 2010 Camaro's bowtie would be that big, especially in comparison to, say, the Cadillac emblem on an Escalade.

I've shared my thoughts on this a few months ago, I'm leaving the badging the way it is.I want anyone and everyone to know it's a Chevy. I'm proud of the brand (not that those that de-badge are not) and I want to make sure there's no mistake to any one that see it that the new Camaro is out on the prowl.

I am ok with the badging. I would have liked to see the front bowties on the SS replaced with an SS. But I didn't get the SS, Just think an SS would look better there on those models.

Jferrell88 03-24-2009 11:10 AM

I hoping to find a polished or chrome set to replace the gold myself, gotta have the bowtie, but why does it have to be gold

camarolt76 03-24-2009 11:11 AM

I am fine with the bowtie on the front and the rear; however I am not crazy about the gold. My wife's 2005 Monte Carlo has a blue bowtie and it looks much better than the gold.

kanakattack 03-24-2009 11:14 AM

An SS in the front would look better in my opinion.

Hylton 03-24-2009 11:14 AM

When I first saw the cars nose, I was hoping the grill would see the traditional "SS" emblem in the center. Now the bowtie has grown on me and I understand why it's there.

terndude 03-24-2009 11:26 AM

Gold?

I'm sure there will be plenty of aftermarket items to address the gold bow-tie. My wife loves the car but really hates anything gold colored...jewelry, doorknobs, kitchen fixtures, teeth, and especially car emblems.

A nice satin-nickel one to match the after-market fuel-cap would work just fine. What ever happened to ... "Beware the Red Bow-Tie" from the 454SS days? SS/RS should have a red one, standard, IMO.

VenomZ302 03-24-2009 11:28 AM

This discussion is basically why I'm getting the heritage grille to swap out as I please (at lesat I hope that's how I can manage it). I plan to get the insert (all but the grille itself) painted to match the body and use either a bowtie or an SS (RS/SS, because it'll have the red lettering) badge in the center.

Bell040 03-24-2009 11:34 AM

I am having the gold part on mine painted CGM to go with the stripes

Zabo 03-24-2009 11:44 AM

I plan on replacing the stock grille with the Heritage Grille. Then, pick up a 30 buck 69 SS emblem and hardware to mount it to the front.

After that, I'm going to repaint all the emblems in RJT and CGM.

r.i.p.01slpss 03-24-2009 11:56 AM

I remember a time when gold bowties were for the trucks only and blue signified the general cars and, of course the red bowtie was for the performance cars. I think it should still be this way. I do not like the gold bowtie one bit.

ZYAL8R 03-24-2009 12:10 PM

I've gone through phases over the years about to badge or not to badge. I've stripped them all off before and loved the shaved look. Also, took off the Red GMC emblem on my Crew cab in favor of the all-billet look grill, only to buy a billet GMC emblem and put it on a couple years later!

Just proving a point to (myself at least) that personal tastes change over time. What you think you want right now as far as emblems or badges go, may be different when you get a Camaro.

And at least there are a gazillion ways to go, so change it up once in awhile until you find "the right tune". Just promise to never ever never paint the emblem to look like a Texas flag.:barf::barf::barf::bonk:

69 Hugger 03-24-2009 12:12 PM

Not big on badging, if it was a little smaller, color coded might look better. Like the one on the back, not the lower GM badging on the fenders. Maybe will get LS3 under the camaro badge neaxt years production that would look good or even on the sides of the cowl.

2010 2-Tone 03-24-2009 01:11 PM

Can someone tell me where we can get some different color badges? I would like to replace the camaro badge on the side with one like the Black Sema car has. It just says BLACK!!!! I would also like to get some of the others in the color black. I know that I could paint but would rather order them black in color. :help::help::headbang::headbang:

ArcAngel 03-24-2009 01:13 PM

I took mine off of my cobalt SS/SC and painted it a metallic black

AZCamaroFan 03-24-2009 01:16 PM

I know some people don't like the badge. I like it fine. I think there should be some badge there. The 69' had a badge like the new car, the 67-68 had smaller, different badges. I would think a lot of customizing will occur.
