For those not familiar, here's info on the new LFX V6:

Quote:

Camaro’s new 3.6L direct injection V-6 – the LFX engine – goes into production this summer. It delivers an SAE-certified 323 horsepower (241 kW) at 6,800 rpm – an increase of 11 horsepower (8 kW) over the 2011 engine, with no compromise in fuel economy.

The LFX delivers the most standard power in the regular sports car segment. It is also 20.5 pounds (9.3 kg) lighter than its predecessor, which promotes a more balanced driving experience. EPA-estimated highway fuel economy for the ’12 Camaro is 30 mpg (2LS model).

Compared to the 3.6L V-6 in 2011 models, the new LFX engine features:

  • New cylinder head design with integrated exhaust manifold
  • Improved intake port design and larger intake valves within the cylinder heads
  • Longer-duration intake camshafts
  • Composite intake manifold
  • New fuel pump and isolated fuel rail
  • New, optimized-flow fuel injectors
  • Structural front cover and cylinder block enhancements
  • Stronger and lighter-weight connecting rods
  • Camshaft cap and throttle body design enhancements.

Direct injection is the key technology enabling the engine’s combination of power and efficiency. It optimizes fuel delivery to the combustion chamber by introducing fuel closer to the combustion chamber. The result is better efficiency in the combustion process leading to increased fuel efficiency at part and full throttle. It also uses a new fuel pump for the direct injection system, along with a new, isolated fuel rail. The new fuel pump is quieter, while the isolated fuel rail further reduces fuel system noise.

i want a review!

its a syn 08-17-2011 07:31 PM

:iono:stupid ?, but what is a LFX?

KMPrenger 08-17-2011 07:34 PM

LFX is the new engine in the 2012 V6 Camaros 323HP / 278 TQ

Yeah the only LFX review I've read so far is this...and it was about the new Cadillac SRX with the LFX engine http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...&highlight=LFX

10spokess 08-17-2011 07:36 PM

I'm curious as well where the hell are they

KMPrenger 08-17-2011 07:36 PM

Can't be long now until the reviews start pouring in.

brAnd7onX 08-17-2011 07:38 PM

Didn't the one guy on this forum who had a test fleet camaro have the LFX V6 engine in it? That was a couple of months ago.

thanx, can't always keep up on all the new things coming out on the 12's

Good question i was wondering the same thing.

b4z 08-17-2011 09:21 PM

So far I've only personally seen CTS Coupes and the SRX(driven) with it.
I would fully expect that we will see Camaros within the week with the LFX.
The Camaro is too important to GM to not have the Camaro get it ASAP.

The CTS is built in Lansing, Michigan and the SRX in Ramos Arizipe, Mexico so they can sure as heck deliver the LFX motors to Oshawa.

I've been wondering this myself for the past couple days now.. Wanting to see what kind of improvements the new HP bump gives on the 1/4 mile times, even if slight. Not expecting too much of course, just a little something something. :D I'm guessing we'll see some breaking into the high 13's, at least low 14's in stock form. :iono: Will be interesting to see at least what GM has in store for those opting for the v6.

MY2012RS 08-17-2011 11:26 PM

I'm buying a 2012V6...Dealer says the car should be in within a few weeks. I will post pics as soon as my black beauty is in hand=)

Very nice! :respekt:

I like how they made the switch from buttons to actual flaps for the tapshift. :w00t: One thing I did hear him mention was the old 312hp rating instead of the new 323hp rating, but just nitpicking I suppose. Beautiful car, can't wait till I can stop dreaming about getting one and actually get one. Nice find again.

mikeSS 08-18-2011 03:03 AM

keep it up chevy, keep making more changes so my 2010 will keep getting better value/rare in the future.

oswego16 08-18-2011 06:15 AM

My 2012 2LT RS Black Black Inferno LFX arrives Monday. I'll keep you posted.

KMPrenger 08-18-2011 12:44 PM

Sweet!

That's because the "323" isn't confirmed or SAE certified...
