Carbon Flash Metallic 2012 Camaro ZL1 Up for Auction This Sat. at Barrett-Jackson

From fbodfather (note which went out to Chevy dealers this AM):

This Saturday (September 24, 2011) at the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction in Las Vegas, NV, a very unique 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 will be offered for auction. This particular model will be the only 2012 Camaro ZL1 in Carbon Flash Metallic. It will also feature a VIN that honors the original ZL1ís Ė a VIN ending in 00069. Only 69 of those first ZL1ís were produced in the 1969 model year. All proceeds from the auctionís sale will benefit the YMCA of Southern Nevada.

The Barrett-Jackson Auction kicks off on Thursday, September 22, 2011. As has been the tradition the last couple of years, the auction will be covered live in primetime on the East Coast by SPEED TV. Since the ZL1 auction will be a centerpiece at this yearís Las Vegas auction, a new :30 second ad featuring the ZL1 will debut during SPEEDís three days coverage of the auction.

The point of the ad is to drive consumers to Chevy.com/CamaroZL1. Once consumers arrive at the site, they will be able to view short films on two different development aspects of the new ZL1. These two new short films will be available on the website sometime during the afternoon of Thursday, September 22, 2011.

If you have a customer interested in the new 2012 Camaro ZL1, you may want to encourage them to visit Chevy.com/CamaroZL1 on Thursday. And if you are interested in owning a very unique 2012 Camaro ZL1, then be prepared to bid Saturday. Although subject to change, the ZL1 is scheduled to cross the block sometime between 8:00 to 10:00 PM, EDT. Visit Barrett-Jackson.com for further details and up to the moment auction timing and results.

Look for further announcements and videos on the Camaro ZL1 in the coming weeks.

That's awesome and it's going to be a thrill to see someone try to outbid Rick Hendrick...I am not missing this one for the world!

man that it way cool

LOWDOWN 09-21-2011 12:02 PM

One-of-one...NICE!

How much will it go for? It'll likely be a Fantasy Bid car, as well...

OldJedi 09-21-2011 12:22 PM

Well, that just about finishes off the contest to see who will own the first ZL1. Radz28 has been saving hard, so he will be tough to outbid. I knew something was up when he had not put down a deposit at a dealership. That sly dog is going to beat all of us to the punch. I want the first ride in your ZL1 Radz !!!

My guess, $125-150,000 :chevy:

OldJedi 09-21-2011 01:01 PM

I would bid on it, but Carbon Flash is not my first color choice.

its a syn 09-21-2011 01:14 PM

will probably keep getting resold to raise more money, have seen that done at some of the specialty cars at this auction. Will be the 5th owner when all said and done!

Joebot8484 09-21-2011 01:19 PM

We should all put our funds together and have camaro5 bid on it hahaha!
I will be tuning in for sure.

OldJedi 09-21-2011 01:36 PM

Anybody have an idea what time this is scheduled to sell?

Sorry, I missed the 8:00 to 10:00pm part. I really need to make that eye exam appointment.

toesuf94 09-21-2011 01:44 PM

Well...let's see...the first ZR1 went for a cool Mil...so I am going to throw my guess into the ring at $425,000. 1 of 1 and the ZL1 moniker are going to drive this one high.

Congrats to the lucky buyer. AND GM...Thanks for helping out a charity. Very Cool.

Shurenuff 09-21-2011 02:54 PM

Can't wait to see it in CFM. I wonder what wheels they'll go with?

Needs Exhaust! 09-21-2011 06:23 PM

The first and only Laguna seca blue Boss sold for 425,000 with 375,000 going to charity. I can see the ZL1 racking up around 300,000.

MrDew 09-21-2011 06:27 PM

So that already means we wont see carbon flash on our regular ZL1s, correct?

I wonder what the CGM replacement will be then...

kudzu74 09-21-2011 06:29 PM

Sounds like the last # of the SLP ZL1s that is being auctioned off. Not the factory production chevrolet ZL1...so I would put in an est. of it selling at 250k due to its color, rarity, last of the SLP ZL1s, and early buy for someone who wants to brag a lot.

HA...guessed it right!

Well, I guess that answers my question if the ZL1 will be offered in Carbon Flash.

........cool for whoever has the deep pockets required for the one @ BJ, but kinda blows for those of us that were hoping we could get the ZL1 in Carbon Flash.

No, it's not a 2011 SLP "ZL1." It's clearly stated that it's a 2012 Chevrolet factory ZL1.

He did not say this would be the only ZL1 in CFM but this would be the only 2012 ZL1 in CFM. I am guessing that CFM will be like synergy green that was offered first only on a special edition and the following year offered on all the camaros. I am hoping to see CFM on the 2013 Camaro ZL1.

What I find interesting about this car is the VIN because it sounds like the ZL1 will have separate VINs from the other camaros. Does anyone know if there was a 2012 camaro produced with the VIN ending in 00069?

they are making the vin end in 69 because back in 1969 only 69 ZL1 Camaro's were produced and the carbon flash will be one of one

A VIN is a serial number and the 69th car produced would get the VIN ending with 00069. GM would have to either skipped 00069 or give the ZL1 camaros separate VINs or GM doesn't put the VINs in sequence.

tsnow 09-22-2011 02:00 AM

Good point, would be cool if zl1's had their own vin.
Would this indicate a different model rather than just another trim level?
