Brembo caliper decals

im looking for the best place to order some Brembo caliper decals. Looking for decals that are high temp grade for the calipers. Any suggestions? Planning to clearcoat over them as well.

eBay, that's where I got mine

eric0353 10-09-2011 04:07 PM

can you post the link and the seller's id name? what sizes did you use? are they clearly stated as "high temp" decals?

IROCanSS 10-09-2011 04:11 PM

Ok.... I got a set off eBay, ordered another set from same seller... Never got them. These guys have to change names a lot bc of copyright. I didn't care, it was $8 I was out.

Mine are 4" wide on front, 3.25" wide on rear, PERFECT fit if you aren't putting Chevrolet.

Here are a bunch.

eric0353 10-09-2011 04:51 PM

yea, ive done the search on ebay already, im just looking for a reputable seller and the correct high temp decals.

The Stig 10-09-2011 05:41 PM

well you won't be able to get an exact match for the brembo logo because of copyright laws

eric0353 10-09-2011 05:44 PM

what about avoiding the red bleed through to the white brembo decal? apply paint, apply clear, apply decal, then clear over decal? would that fix the bleed through issue?

The Stig 10-09-2011 06:12 PM

Yep that's what I did.

eric0353 10-09-2011 06:18 PM

how long did you wait after the first set of clear before putting on the decal? can you post some pictures of your calipers please.

im not understand how the red paint can bleed through and make the white decals pink when using clearcoat? how does that happen? im looking for a full explanation so i dont mess this up? whats the proper way to have red calipers and white decals without getting bleed through and having pink decals?

The Stig 10-09-2011 07:13 PM

I don't know where you're getting your information but if you wait the full amount of time and let the paint dry then you won't have bleed through.

eric0353 10-09-2011 07:23 PM

Something about the clearcoat acting as a solvent and bringing up the red paint thus turning the decal pink. Mikethepowdercoater says this is why he doesn't do white decals. I'm freaking out about it

The Stig 10-09-2011 07:28 PM

I wouldn't worry about it. But are you getting your calipers painted or powder coated?

eric0353 10-09-2011 07:49 PM

Painted. Wondering if just applying paint then decal then clearcoat is sufficient.

overhaulengines 10-09-2011 08:30 PM

hi, well if you paint red, then clear, let clear dry, sand clear, clean apply decals and then clear again. you wont have to worry about any bleed through because there is clear over the red:), now i just painted, cleared then later put the decals, i did not clear over them, been a year and no prob's :)

lupe

The Stig 10-09-2011 08:53 PM

I did the same a Lupe, cleared the paint and then applied decals ontop of the clear

email from xenonmods. where i just ordered my white brembo decals

Hi Eric - they'll be fine.

The only time the red bleeds through is on powder coating, not painting.

Just be sure to let the paint cure for about 24 hours and you'll be fine.

Thanks!
Rich

I was just about to post this. From what I've read from Mike@thepowdercoater is that it's an issue when powdercoating.

I used those high temp white vinyl and had someone test powdercoat them and it turned a burnt orange look. So, there is a trick to it when powder coating. I was on the fence with G2 vs powdercoat. Ultimately I pulled the trigger on powdercoat and they've been great but I think G2 (or paint) with some clear will probably work fine.

caverman 10-10-2011 09:19 AM

BTW...what color are you doing?

eric0353 10-10-2011 09:35 AM

red calipers with white brembo decals

I cannot find 4" or 4.25" anywhere, can someone help me? I've even emailed a bunch of sellers on eBay and other sites asking for custom sizes but none have replied.
