2012 San Diego International Auto Show - Sat, 12/31/2011

Who wants to go to the 2012 San Diego International Auto Show this month before the year is out? The plan is to cruise together and arrive at the ACE Parking Structure (name may have changed) attached to the Hilton Hotel - on east side the Convention Center - by the 10:00 am opening time of the show!

Here are links to the Auto Show web site:
2012 SD Auto Show
COUPON for $2 off $12 admission

Here are two proposed cruise routes, meet at 9:00 am and leave for Downtown at 09:30 am:

1. Mission Bay -> SD Convention Center Cruise (20 minutes)
2. Mission San Diego de Alcala -> SD Convention Center Cruise (23 minutes)

We can pick ONE of the above cruise starting points, or, we can do BOTH! If both, those leaving from Mission San Diego could leave at 09:25 am for the extra ~:03 minute route time (or, just push the speed limit west on I-8...last chance for a speeding ticket in 2011, so what the heck!). The 2 groups would link up on PCH just south of the W. Washington Street exit for the last 3 miles of the cruise. No matter what we decide, everyone meets on the top of the parking structure by 10:00 am!
:headbang:

Ken, is that you? Will you and Beth be bringing BOTH Camaros? If so, and if I was a betting man, I would say you will be 'stuck' driving the '69 convertible...too dang cold for the ladies in our lives... :yikes:

CYBER69 12-07-2011 02:56 PM

Bringing 2 Camaro's

We'll probably bring ol "Betsy" since I got her back this will be her first Cruise. As for the Wife... she's from Minnesota, she'll probably be in a Tank Top! :D

monstertodd 12-07-2011 09:45 PM

I'll be there. Possibly girlfriend and daughter as well.

Nice...so, is the Tapatalk app you use specifically (designed) for the iPad, or the "stretched" iPhone version?

Mike what about us guys coming from the South Bay, where can we hook up?. Last time we met at the 28th Street (I-5) off ramp at one of the fast food places. I am flexible with any location. :headbang:

DET MSCL 12-10-2011 06:28 PM

Hmmmm, this is like trying to orchestrate the "Water Follies"...

How about this for a South Bay route...
3. Starbucks @28th Street & I-5 -> Convention Center Cruise (17 minutes)

17 minutes (!) you ask? Well, this is the "extended" route...let's you get a little bit more of I-5 under your tires...exit at Sassafras to hook up with those coming from the north and / or east...we don't want to bunch up the Washington exit, so your group would come in 1 exit south of that...leaving Starbucks around 09:35 am...

I feel your paid trying to get everyone together is tough. I would also be coming from south bay Eastlake so perhaps some would be interested in something from out that way?

Hey! Tapatalk for Ipad is specifically for the Ipad. It isn't the 2x version of the Iphone tapatalk. It works great, although visually identical to the Iphone version.

A LITTLE REAR END TROUBLE...

I blew up the my 410 Richmonds last Saturday Night ( only 2500 miles). I don't know what happened... 2nd to 3rd gear shift coming home from dinner... then BAM!, I'm calling a flatbed! Greg @ RPMM is doing the rebuild & set up on my new 433's... As long as I get them back by the 30th I'll be able to get them back into the car... I'll be on the drive! :D

DET MSCL 12-19-2011 07:47 PM

Ken, we weren't born yesterday..."I don't know what happened"...give us a break! Everyone wants to know what the condition is of the Mustang you smoked... :sm0:

With 12 days to go for the 31st cruise / meet at the SD International Auto Show downtown, we have 7 Camaros signed up here, and 1 Dodge Charger R/T! :happyanim:

SDCamaro10 12-20-2011 02:36 AM

I'll come say hello at the show, you guys are too fast for the Versa. LoL.

DET MSCL 12-20-2011 08:08 PM

Tim, if you stop by Courtesy Chevrolet in Mission Valley sometime between now and the show date, you can grab a Military admission ticket! They have tons, which all an active-duty person needs to show is that plus your military ID and (I believe) you get into the Show for FREE! The regular Military discounted entry is $9.00.

I scored a dozen FREE show tixs from Tanya at Courtesy Chevrolet, which I will bring to our roof top destination on Saturday morning. If it turns out lots more peeps come on the cruise or meet us in the parking lot by 10:00 am on the 31st, we can each pay $5 bucks and then have enough to purchase another discounted 8-10 tickets so everyone gets in for just $5.

Dibs! :emoticon11:

Just Kidding - no love for us retired folks?

I'll see you at the meet-up!

DET MSCL 12-21-2011 12:16 PM

Scott, are you trying to say that active-duty "Seal Team 6" ID you showed off was fake?

Depending on the attendance (on top of the parking structure), we can "water down" the FREE tixs with a, say, "$5 donation"...this will allow us to purchase more tixs at the show at the $10 discounted rate so everyone gets in for $5...

Active-Duty Military FREE Tixs!

I just confirmed with Tanya at Courtesy Chevrolet in Mission Valley...they have over 100 for military to get in free any day of the show with military ID, they are Red in color (the yellow ones are for anyone & they have very few of those...I have 12 for our Saturday the 31st cruise / meet), anyone can stop by and see the front desk or send service members to pick up their tickets as well.

Can one of our active-duty Military peeps pick up a handful of the RED ones? How many are in a platoon... :yikes:

Walt, the regular yellow FREE admission tixs are for retired Military and civilians (like me)...if the turnout on the 31st is more than expected, we will resort to "Plan B" = $5/person, so we can buy $10 discounted tixs ($2 off the regular $12 admission)...no one will have to pay more than $5 to get in (parking is not included, which is something like $10-12 per car)...sounds to me you are going to spend New Year's Eve in San Diego!
:drinking:

Gonzo 12-22-2011 12:57 PM

I work in Old Town, so I will try to swing by Courtesy on my way home or during lunch. Last time I was in the Mission Valley area before Christmas it took me amost an hour to get out of there because of all the traffic. Might have to try getting in the back way!

Unfortunately, I am retired also, so not sure which tickets I can get.
