Ray Huffines

Hi everyone!

Newbie here, and first time posting. This is a very helpful sight.
I wanted to know if anyone has ordered their camaro from Ray Huffines in Plano. After e-mailing several dealers in the area, it became apparant that they were all quoting MSRP, so it made since to order from a dealer near where I live. First of all, I have been dealing with the Fleet manager and he promised to only charge me List. However he could not but anything in writing because he said that the pricing might change, which made me nervous at the time. This was before the small price increase recently, so I suspect he knew about this. He told me that he did not think it would change more than $500.00 or so. Now I have been trying to get at least a guestimate from him on when my order will be placed. He tells me that he is waiting on his next allotment and that there are 2 orders from the first allotment that has to be filled first. I asked him when he expected to receive the second allotment, and he said he did not know, that it was up to GM. I would think that he would have some inkly as to when that might be. I am a little nervous about this whole purchase from them. It seems that the attitude I receive from them, is that I am being a pest to them. I do not want to have any surprises, and I would like to have my camaro by August, since my current lease is up at that time. Any feedback from you guys would be great, and I would like to hear about your experience from buying from this dealership.

I would run straight to Reliable in Richardson off of Beltline and 75. Talk to Brian Prosser, he is good and straightforward and he is not bothered by someone asking a bunch of questions when they are buying a 35Kish car they have never seen...

If he still talks to me daily he will surely be fine with you "bothering" him.

I have worn him out.

Tell him Chad referred you. I can get you his number if you want it.

Or you might call Mike Carnes at Classic Chevy in Grapevine....He is also a great guy to deal with.

Coop 2010 04-22-2009 06:15 PM

Just recommended Richardson because Grapevine is a long way from this area.

And because Brian was the only honest one I could find. :w00t:

You should definately call Mike! I bother him all the time

Grapevine is a little bit of a drive for me too but i've heard great things about Classic Chevy from tons of people.

I think you should definately find another dealer....getting the price in MSRP is important....

When did you place your order? what number are you?

Coop 2010

What number are you at Reliable? Thats where I ordered from and I also live in Allen.

rforbes 04-23-2009 08:42 AM

I just ordered last month, so I do not know where I stand in the pecking order yet. Let me clarify that I i was in no way attempting to cast a negative light on Ray Huffines, but since this is the first time I have special ordered a vehicle, the process is very confusing to me. I suppose with the Camaro being such a hot item at this time, obtaining reliable informtion, is difficult for not only us, but the dealers also. I did some very detailed research on local dealers and Ray Huffines received very high marks for customer satisfaction. That is why I chose them over the many other dealers in the DFW area. I suppose that I am being overly anxious like everyone else at this point, and I will be provided updated information when it becomes available. I should not jump to conclusions at this point, since it is apparant that every one is in the same situation. Coop, you and myself, and any others that ordered from here are in good hands I am sure.

I was number 10, but theoretically got moved to 7 because some people cancelled their pre-order. I am at 3300 in the process as of 4/21

When did you order? Are you dealing with Brian? I was with Heide who came there from Huffines then got let go from Reliable, Brian took over all of her stuff. She was very interesting to deal with.

rforbes 04-23-2009 09:42 AM

I just ordered on 3/28, so not that long ago. They are supposed to be receiving their second allotment soon, so people better get in line as soon as possible.
I have been dealing with the fleet manager Jay. He is the camaro expert there. If you need any help with anything, he can certainly help you also. What did you order?
I am getting a 2SS Auto IOM beauty with a sunroof.

I ordered on October 13. I am number 3 and I am dealing with Todd Porter. There is a yellow SS ahead of me so it should be soon.

I ordered a 2SS/RS IOM.

I placed my order 10/15/08. I originally started out as allocation #32.....but i'm not sure if I moved up or down based on constraints/cancelled orders.

I moved to event code 2000 a couple of days ago so things are moving right along!

I also ordered from Reliable on October 14th. I was working with Gerry, but now I'm working with Brian. I was number 13, but I was also moved up due to others dropping their orders. My order is currently at a 3000.

Coop 2010 04-27-2009 05:47 PM

Brian is great to deal with isn't he??

Reliable will not see a dime from me.I went there to try and test drive a G8.The salesman was very nice ,but when the Douche Nozzle of a sales Manager came out.He wanted me to go out and test drive the other cars i was thinking about, and then come back to test drive this one last(yeah right).Even after i told him i live in mesquite,he still wanted me to come back another day.I will come back alright, but only to dump my clutch in their parking lot right in front of the showroom after i pick up my SS from Classic.

Brian is awesome! If you ordered from him, go check out the SS they have on the showroom.

I promised I wouldn't post about it. I'll just say it was well worth spending my lunch hour over there!!!!

Coop 2010 04-28-2009 01:07 PM

Just went by there after lunch and he told me I would hear about your "experience" on camaro5.

So he did the same thing for me, I didn't even ask, he offered...And yes definitely worth it.

Coop 2010 04-28-2009 01:14 PM

That sucks but it's not Reliable's fault. Should have told the tool to get bent and ignored him, you are the customer. I called Bankston last year in October and they told me the Camaro wasn't even coming out, so I called Huffines, talked to a lady she was all about the Camaro, she just couldn't hold a job. She left huffines and I found her at Reliable, two months later she was gone. Brian picked up her stuff and has been great ever since.
