Boo! Should have been glossy GM!!

Well, that will knock $470 off my total purchase price, thanks for the information Embalmer.

Hey txturbo - how much for glossy black rally stripes?

DevilKnightFalcon 04-23-2009 02:33 PM

Wow that really sucks. Flat black will look terrible on my Rally Yellow. Glossy would have looked amazing.

Edit: Can you also tell us how flush the stripes are with the car or does it look/feel like you have a giant sticker on?

moto_italia 04-23-2009 02:35 PM

That DOES suck. So what color paint will look best with flat black stripes?

Dakota Kid 04-23-2009 02:36 PM

I just called the dealer to cancel the stripes.

THANKS for POSTING!

Honestly....i'm not sure any of them will look good. If I had to pick one I would say probably SIM but yikes....that is soo disappointing. All of the other stripes are glossy right?

Black and that's the silly thing - Chevrolet won't let you order flat black stripes on a black car. Anyone remember how popular the black 85-86 Mustang GT's were with the big flat black hood stripe?

I guess my next best option is painted stripes in Black Granite Metallic with a nice shiny clear coat over it. For now, I'll live with unadorned Victory Red for a while and then decide which direction to go...

that picture brings back so many bad memories

I think I will be one of the few that like the flat color on silver...going to have them installed since the car is already built and on the way.

If I don't like them I'll have them removed...got to see what it looks like!!

Well, it's going to look quite a bit like this, except that it will be a bit wider and have a silver stripe up the middle.

Yeah see...that will look good on the SIM background and some color showing through like you just said...I like it so far...just got to see it installed.

Here are a couple of pics I just took of the stripes.

I've sent a note over to our Accessories guy -- because I think they're semi-gloss -- but I'll let you know what I find out.........

Fbod,

I just had them put on my car - dealer installed... and the ones I got are definitely flat..

With that said... they don't look nearly as bad as I thought they would..

There were some "complications" though.... I'll post the pictures and the details in the Media forum later tonight....

erasedgod 04-23-2009 03:01 PM

I'm still confident they'll look sexy on my CGM. If not, I'll find a way to put them on my wife's Yaris.

moto_italia 04-23-2009 03:04 PM

I think the flat black stripes will look crappy on yellow, orange, red and blue cars, and be OK looking to some people on black, gray and silver cars.

Well, at least that would take care of the debate about stripe length...

Complications? Yikes...this is what worries me more than the color/finish!

You live in Texas. Do you live near Txturbo? Get him to apply them for you. He's been doing it for years.

This has been a concern since the day we found out that not all stripes would be factory installed.

A X had a 4cyl stang same body style. Put exhaust and the 5.0 emblem on the side  Needless to say she has been long gone!!

Never2LowChevy 04-23-2009 03:10 PM

I love flat black! I plan on having my car two toned with flat(suede) black on top, IOM on bottom in a few months.

CanadianCamaro 04-23-2009 03:10 PM

NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

I do NOT want flat (barf)!!! I need confirmation asap. I think my car is in production RIGHT NOW and if they are flat then I want to try to cancel them (too late?) DAMN IT!!!

deep breath.... deep breath

Please Scott.... give us the word.
