Ok. Latest update.

Going with Forgeline 10.5x20 with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 305/35 tires all the way around.

Just need to figure out now which Forgelines. They will be gloss black centers and polished lips. :)

Here are my choices.

Tony (NineBall) is taking good care of me. These tires cost but will be well worth it. My transmission, however, is going to hate me. :)

Here are the tires I'm considering.

It's time to buy.

At long last I'm buying the wheels I have so desperately needed since I put my Savinis on.

I'd love to get me some Forgelines but the styles are not attractive to me and for the price I want to make damn sure I'm getting my multiple purposes out of them. They are still on the top of my list but I'd like to save some money and get a nice looking wheel that will perform as well.

I've made the biggest purchase mistake of my life with the Savinis and so I'm going to make damn sure I don't do it again. One thing I will NOT hear is 'You get what you pay for'. NO you don't always.

Staggered set-up 11" rears and 9.5 fronts. 20" wheels. I'd go 10.5 inch balanced set if I could be sure they will clear my Pedders coilovers in the front. Rears I know will fit with 11" widths and 315s.

I can look into the different wheels but are there any wheel ideas out there you guys recommend as I put my shopping database together?

Edit: I should mention that, yes, I've looked at some of the more obvious wheels but welcome the input.

List:

iForged
Forgeline
Bonspeed
American Racing
Forgestar
Vossen
D2 Forged

Narrowed down.

Forgeline on top and Vossen on bottom. :D

What's your preferences? Performance vs. Bling? Chrome vs. Powdercoated? 18's vs. 22's? Mesh vs. 5-spoke? Etc.....

Personally, for the money, I really think the Forgestars are top-notch. F14, CF5, CF10.

PQ 02-16-2012 03:19 PM

Lighter weight is preferable. I wouldn't say I'm looking for bling. But I want them to look good. I'll get an aggressive stance no matter how I go but I'm definitely wanting performance first, then looks. BUT I am not paying 6k for a set of wheels. Just won't happen.

So do the best you can with that info.

I wouldn't strap a set of 22s on my car again for FREE. And I don't want to go down to 19s. If 20s work well on the ZL1 I'll accept it on mine.

This is my speed (and price area)

I'll call you after work today Randy.

Snake Slayer 02-16-2012 04:23 PM

I think the 20's Forgestar can be had for 1900 shipped and we less than 28lbs each as they are flow formed.

My current wheels are in that thread. If I didn't remove them.

I'm trying to do my best to walk the 'Looks/Performance/Cost/Quality/Durability' line the best I can.

My current wheels were all looks and the rest SUCKED.

Sorry but you're not lucky enough to get my wheels if I ever get rid of them... :sm0:

ZZTOM 02-16-2012 04:58 PM

I've been very pleased with mine from US Wheels. They have been on my car for over 2 years now and still look like new and still get compliments. Its worth a call to Bismark the owner. :)

Snake Slayer 02-16-2012 05:03 PM

Yes the offset can be customized on the forgestars.

That website is like molasses. Not very good pics either. I'll try back later I guess.

When I order my drag wheels I'll definitely hit him up. Talked to him at the fest. I'll check out what he has on the net too.

I was thinking about it. Something in a round model with a touch of smoothness.

Randy, this is the best place I have found to get information about Forgestars. And the best vendor to get them from (IMO)!!!:D

+1

Forgestar makes a great set of wheels that come in custom made to order offsets, or any offsets that you desire with of course the choice of widths as well. These wheels are indeed flow formed as mentioned above, and they are indeed very lightweight, and more importantly, they're very strong as well.

Feel free to send me a PM if you want a quote on them, I've already got tons of guys off this forum interested and ready to buy, and there's not many barrels left over to use, just FYI.
