Dash Bubbling - anyone else?

The strip of dash just under the center vents has a bubble in it that seems to have formed over time (I know it wasn't that way a few months ago).

Anyone else have this?

I have been noticing the same thing on our 2012. Seems like the leather is coming unglued.

I will post some when the sun comes up and I can lower the top. It is very noticeable with the sun shining on the dash.

Here are pics of the bubbling issue that my 2012 is having. You can see the bubbles under the A/C vents.

I'd be high-tailing it down to my dealer to talk about that.

:word: Glad it's not an issue on our '10's-11's!

Mach 04-11-2012 01:39 PM

WOW.. Looks like they didn't test out that new 2012 interior in the Sun too well.

I can see this happening to all the new 2012's once it warms up.

The 2012's have a new dash its the leather that's bubbling. The 2010-2011's have plastic there.

11BEE 04-11-2012 01:41 PM

I suspect this will become an issue on all 2012's as ours is garage kept and only has about 3000 miles on it. The ZL-1's will probably get it worse with the suede dash since that leather is more breathable.

I am waiting on the coveted top fix to take it in for both issues at the same time.

hightower 04-11-2012 02:29 PM

I'll be keeping an eye on my dash!

I'm aware :bellyroll: which is why I said I'm glad it's not an issue on earlier models-- since there is no leather there.... :iono:

ffrcobra_65 04-11-2012 03:16 PM

the glue under it has let go.

Nessal 04-11-2012 03:50 PM

We have a 2011 RS V6 that is my daily driver to and from work. I am one of the bad Camaro drivers that puts about 20K a year on my car.

We also have our weekend car (actually my wife's that she lets me think I have some ownership in) which is the 2012 2SS 45th Anniversary package. That is the one having the issue.

maybe, maybe not. all leather is different. it's quite possible the leather is simply flawed, or was tanned incorrectly.

2012dude 04-26-2012 11:14 PM

Same problem - have had 2 dashes replaced

I have the exact same problem - hot Texas sun.
I first noticed in cold weather, when I ran with top down, full heater blowing over the thin leather strip b elow the vents.

Dealer has replaced dash 2 times (I am on my third dash part, same problem keeps coming up).

I have reported to Chevy, have a case number from their customer support/product quality division. I will keep replacing dash until I get resolution. It's a REAL PAIN to sit in a dealer's office for 2 hours while they replace it, but no option!!!!

I hope they manufacture a part that fixes the problem, but your pics could have been a photo of my dash - EXACT EXACT EXACT same problem.

Report your problem to Chevy!! Maybe they will fix it.

liquidsmoke 04-27-2012 12:10 AM

Just curious cuz I have a 2010, but is the dash even real leather or is it just like the leather on the rear seats, which is not real.

THUMPER20X 04-27-2012 12:12 AM

Uh oh, thisll be an expensive TSB lol.

liquidsmoke 04-27-2012 12:19 AM

Prob not. They likely will just glue it back down instead of replacing it.
