curious if anyone else wants electronic tap shift on shifter knob instead?

Hey guys, I have the 6 speed auto and i don't know about you but i would really prefer to have the paddle shifter removed and replaced with the tap shifting on the shifter itself like most other cars. when i am playing with the gears and turning the wheel its kind of annoying finding the paddle to shift. too bad the paddles dont stay stationary either. I think this should be updated. just my opinion. Maybe they will create a modification to change out the console to add the tap shift ability to the shifter knob.

Just my thoughts, what do you guys think?

I agree with you. IIRC there was someone out here with an aftermarket part like you describe.

Yup, found it. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=116908

You can do it aftermarket. There are a few options.

I have had CFD's pistol grip tap shifter for about 1 yr. now & I absolutely LOVE IT!! I didn't like the "taps" on the steering wheel either. This makes using the "taps" SOOOOOO much easier!! I now use the "taps" about 90% of the time!!! I have done a lot of mods so far, but this one is the most practicle I have installed!! You will love it!!

Definitly wish the auto camaro had this. And I have an M6 but realistically, its much more fun to use the tap shift on the lever rather then the buttons on the steering wheel

I also think on the wheel sucks, as Im going around turns its very tough to find the correct button to hit and down or upshift. I might just get that shift handle myself, then I might just use the tap shift more often. As of now I hardly ever use it because of that problem.

Chief you will not regret it:D

That CFD shifter is perfect. I just got one, and love it. You'll wanna tapshift all the time; it's almost like driving another car.

PQ has the tap-shift buttons on his shifter. Don't remember where he got his shifter though.

The paddles are placed so that you'll always be able to locate them when your hands are in the proper 9-3 or 10-2 position. Look at any in car racing videos and you'll note that the drivers maintain their hands in this position.

i've got the hurst paddles and use them 100% of the time. it's just like
anything else, after enough use it becomes natural.

I mostly drive with one hand at approx 1 on the wheel. The paddles are almost useless to me unless im going in a straight line. even then, i am use to using a hurst slap shift on all of my old muscle cars. that is the best way i think. JMO.:drinking:
