2013 Camaro 1LE $37,035 Starting Price announced...

2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible priced from $60,445, Camaro 1LE from $37,035

At an event in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Sunday, Chevrolet Camaro chief engineer Al Oppenheiser officially revealed pricing information for the new ZL1 Convertible and 1LE Coupe. The droptop ZL1 will start at $60,445, and the less-powerful 1LE will sticker for $37,035. Both prices include a $900 destination charge.

To refresh, the ZL1 Convertible is simply the soft-top version of the Ford Shelby GT500-fighting Camaro ZL1 Coupe, packing a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 under its hood, good for 580 horsepower and 556 pound-feet of torque. For the sake of comparison, know that the 2013 GT500 Convertible retails for $59,995 (including $750 for destination) and packs 650 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. But remember, when it comes to range-topping muscle cars like these, power isn't everything.

The 2013 Camaro 1LE builds upon the current SS model in a similar fashion to how the Boss 302 improves upon the Mustang GT formula. The 1LE package includes better suspension geometry, lighter wheels wrapped in better-performing tires, and as Oppenheiser stated during Sunday's press conference, the end result is a "damn fun car to drive." In fact, Chevrolet is so confident that the 1LE is an excellent performer, Oppenheiser stated that he expects this Camaro to stand up closer to the Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca – not just the standard Boss.

That said, the 1LE offers quite the cost advantage compared to Ford's Boss. A standard 302 starts at $42,995, and the Laguna Seca ups that number to $49,990 (both prices include the $750 destination charge).

These two new models aside, there are a few other changes to speak of regarding the 2013 Camaro line. The V8-powered SS models now come standard with electric power-assisted steering, as well as GM's dual-mode exhaust sound system. V6 models will also get the fancy exhaust work starting in the fall. What's more, Chevrolet's new MyLink infotainment system will be standard on LT, SS and ZL1 models for 2013, and no, just like the new bit of tech for the Spark and Sonic, a CD player is not included.

Awesome news. When can I build one on the website?

LoneStar 07-29-2012 10:57 PM

Great news! I thought the dual-mode exhaust was an option for the V8, rather than standard equipment. Glad they're updated the exhaust across the Camaro line up!

Its the quad exhaust system that is optional.

As far as I know, dual-mode exhaust = quad exhaust from GM.

NoynuR 07-29-2012 11:21 PM

nope. the dual is the current system on the camaros now. although the system is technically still dual, it's the quad exhaust system that is optional.

"Dual exhaust" and "dual-mode exhaust" are two separate things. Dual-mode exhaust (found on the Corvette and ZL1) has baffles in the exhaust that open under load.

Finally, an official announcement. Now if they just update their website.

Hmm I'm getting mixed info here because I've seen 2013 Camaro SS's on YouTube already without the dual-mode exhaust. Was it not standard on early builds? Or are people confusing SS 1LE editions (which have dual mode standard) with regular SS's?(most likely)

I would bet this is a misprint/misquote. The npp is stated as optional everywhere else. It is listed as an $895 option on the 13 price sheet. I don't see gm suddenly giving away that money without a base price increase. Maybe standard for '14

SnowVert 07-30-2012 03:46 AM

It cost me $895 on my 13 order... And it is only available on the ls3 for the ss

1LEE 07-30-2012 06:29 AM

Awesome!!

That is what I expected to pay.

Get the website updated GM. I want to start tinkering with 1LE/1SS options.

stikSS 07-30-2012 07:37 AM

The price for the 1LE is good, but I'm sure there is additional cost to accompany those 10 spoke wheels and quad exhaust... So the 1LE is probably gonna be more like 41ish with the popular options that everyone will want.

The wheels are part of the $3500 1LE package....

The NPP exhaust is an extra cost option.

Hellfighter 07-30-2012 11:23 AM

Give me exhaust LE and RS on a 2SS and I am set.

Welcome to 4 weeks ago! ;) http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=234654

NPP is not standard on the 1LE. It's a $895 option on all V8, manual transmission Camaros except for ZL1. It's standard on all ZL1s.

Ha. You posted it in the correct section and not everybody saw it. I still give you credit. :)

Interested to hear more about the V-6 exhaust upgrade. Anybody know if it's NPP or just a new, louder exhaust? Cool upgrade for those guys.

For the SS, it is only available on the manual transmission (LS3) models.
Not available on the automation (L99) models.

PLuche 07-30-2012 02:45 PM

SweeT!!! Now I can keep dreaming but with an actual sticker price in my head! :happyanim::headbang: :(

freefallin2005 07-30-2012 03:03 PM

Just spoke with my dealer and said orders can be placed now and expected build date is sept so i would think i should have it by the end of sept or 2nd week of oct???

S-eatin-grin 07-30-2012 03:08 PM

I feel the upgrades in 1LE are well worth the additional cost: wheels, gears, upgraded half shafts, transmission, fuel pump, splitter, monotube dampers, strut brace, other suspension components...if the dual mode exhaust is an extra $800-900, I'd pay that too. This is the ultimate cost efficient platform to engine-mod from...or a nice stock track car.
