2ls LFX rear gear ratio?

Is there a difference between the A6 2ls rear gear ratio and A6 lt rear gear ratio?

Lance455 08-03-2012 09:53 AM

yes the 2ls has a 2.92 ratio compare to the 1lt 2lt a6 at 3.27 i believe the ss a6 is also 3.27.

C-redfly 08-03-2012 10:01 AM

Thanks. I'm kinda disappointed. I picked up a 2ls assuming all LFX's had 3.27.
I guess I gotta seriously consider the 3.55 upgrade or wait to see if richmond will make a 3.73 for the A6 LFX

Lance455 08-03-2012 10:25 AM

ya that about the only few options for the a6 v6's right now for gears. with out doing whole rear end swap. one of a couple of reason i went with the m6 positrac and gearing options.

C-redfly 08-03-2012 10:38 AM

Yea you did your homework. I wish I woulda, but I still love my Camaro5

Lance455 08-03-2012 10:41 AM

Yep this is a great site for info. Plus the 2ls is a terrific car as well giving time hopefully there will be abit more mods out for the rear end and gears for the a6.

Something will come out eventually :) that's bad marketing by Chevy if they don't clarify the different rear ends.

Yea I was soo convinced I was getting 3.27's. I shoulda asked but I assumed all LFX's had 3.27's cause I never heard otherwise

bluecam805 08-03-2012 11:35 AM

yeah i found all the details of my car after i had bought it . dealers will tell you youll live forever just to get a sale

C-redfly 08-03-2012 11:49 AM

Yea I doubt they would actually say," well sir, are you aware your getting 2.92 gears instead of the 3.27 gears" for about the same price. Now I got a reason to get some 3.55's atleast of find a deal on a ss rear to swap which I wanted to do anyway

MistyBlu10 08-03-2012 11:54 AM

whats the 12 lt2 m6 got for gears ???

Lance455 08-03-2012 12:06 PM

bascally anything a ss can run

C-redfly 08-03-2012 12:07 PM

The SS and v6 M6's come with 3.45's. U could use the same gears as the SS, so u can get 4.11's with no problem.

Lance455 08-03-2012 12:09 PM

no just the ss m6 has the 3.45 gear the m6 v6 come with the 3.27 same with the a6 ss and 1lt and 2lt.

Lance455 is correct, sorry.. V6 m6 are 3.27 but you upgrade to any gear the ss can use.

MistyBlu10 08-03-2012 12:22 PM

thanks what would 4.11 do to the car ???

So there is no v6 a6 positrac unit available?

Lance455 08-03-2012 12:35 PM

not right now for the a6 unless u swap the whole rear end from a m6 v6 or a ss

It would accelerate way faster, but u would shave away some top speed and loose 1-2 mpg on the highway but on the streets you would increase mpg if your light on the pedal because the engine wouldn't have to work as hard to get up to the speed limit for the streets.

Yea I want 3.73's so I'm gonna look into the swap, I heard a few ppl done it already.

Lance455 08-03-2012 12:50 PM

i was thinking 3.73 for mine eventually as well. when i got the car new the ideal of putting a new rear end in at the time wasn't what i wanted to do so i opted for the m6.

Yea that was smart of you, you want have any problems swapping..I shoulda did that.

etmx183 08-03-2012 01:40 PM

I would like to find someone who has done the swap to get complete info. My understanding is the driveshaft rear flange is different also on the A6 V6 also.
Anyone here done the A6 LFX diff swap please contact me. I have power I need to get planted to the ground to go deep into the 12 second ETs. Can't put the juice on in 1st with a one tire fire.
