Even with the beefed up motor, and much lower weight, the
new SS prevails over the old SS. All hail to the chief.!!

kdoske 06-01-2009 12:10 PM

does anyone else find it odd that they are racing on a bridge off a cliff? At least there is water...

3 SS's 06-01-2009 12:53 PM

kopacko 06-01-2009 01:10 PM

Was this an open or closed road?

LS3SSRS 06-01-2009 01:20 PM

i would have liked a finish line angle myself... cool though.

alex33x 06-01-2009 01:38 PM

Kinda looks like Lake Shasta or Whiskeytown up by Redding but I haven't been there in at least 9 years. Waiting for video to load since it's kinda slow here. Should be cool. Can't wait to repower my 68 with an LS3 or better. I really enjoy the new engines GM is making these days. Not that the old ones were bad but these have power, fuel economy, reduced emissions...what more could we want. So sad to see GM wherethey're at but I can't blame them entirely. We wanted hot rods for the most part and they delivered while still meeting EPA guidlines. I just think that's some pretty good engineering right there. Keep the faith GM folks. It'll be hard at times but our cars and trucks still have lots of miles left in them.

RNK TX SS 06-01-2009 01:51 PM

Cool stuff. It looked like the new Camaro won. :)

dankss 06-01-2009 02:17 PM

wow, the camaro totally had the mustang off the line.. wtf?

haha sweet.

oramac0002 06-01-2009 02:20 PM

Great videos and I agree I would of liked to see the finish line view but anyway it was nice to see the new Camaro SS hold its own right out of the factory against bigger engines in the the other cars

Red Hot SS 06-01-2009 02:26 PM

That GT500 driver HAD to have spun it...not the best launch.

Dangerous much?

JJ#48Racing 06-01-2009 02:40 PM

Nice vids. Looks like the camaro puts up a good showing.

Rocks RS 06-01-2009 02:43 PM

Nah, didn't look like he spun it at all actually... was a good launch. But you cant compare a supercharged 5.4L with 500hp to a 6.2L 426HP N/A new engine. But thank you to whoever posted these videos because that's the first races i have seen with the new camaro, cant wait to get mine and bring on the mods :)

Btw, the GT500 won the race against the new camaro which really wasn't a surprise to me... however it was a surprise that the camaro couldn't have been more then a car length behind.

zora2mac8 06-01-2009 03:21 PM

with a "lil" bit of work.. ford gets taken down easssssily.

R1Ecko 06-01-2009 03:24 PM

Those chevelles are the only cars I'd ever take over my soon to be SS. Mmmm.... 454.....

Silver Streak 06-01-2009 03:25 PM

Can't wait to get home so I can watch this.

Yeah, but then he revved the piss out of the GT in the higher gears and put the car into it's sweet spot. Camaro looks to have some MAD low end power.. now to clean up that top end..
