Catch Can install...just finished

2 Attachment(s)
Just wrapped up the install of oil catch can.

I used a 4" aluminum turn buckle as a stand-off/spacer to get the desired mounting position and tapped it with 10mm/1.50 pitch. It worked out well. I wanted to dress it up a little so I used some 6 AN fittings and braided hose.

Next mod is to re-route those fugly intercooler hoses.

Looks great. Really like the color. What exactly does it do?

Its meant to keep engine oil from being sucked into the intake.

The can comes with the standard rubber hose and NPT/Barb fittings.

I bought the AN fittings and braided hose from summit. You can pick this stuff up from any number of places.

Looks great - but pretty tight; any problem getting the lines connected to the ports on the block?

No problems at all. I removed the little bracket holding the wire/connectors on the side of the diaphragm/cannister just so I could get my big meat hooks in there to disconnect the factory vacuum hose. Other wise really simple mod to do.

Best looking install I've seen yet. Great job! I'm thinking about this mod. What's the total cost if you don't mind me asking. I've seen others using dual can. Why a single? Just a novice and I'd like to hear your opinion. Also where did you order/buy the catch can and are there several color options? Thanks for any assistance you can provide, oh and the bracket was fab by you or it came with?

Oh one other comment, when everyone sees your pictures, they are going to change out their hoses. I doubt even if this was a factory install it would look as good as the job you did. If you're going to do something, do it right, and it don't get better than this. BRAVO!

Thanks for the compliments. I chose this particular can from Elite Engineering because it's rated to be pretty effective, & because it accepts the NPT fittings.

Here is a breakdown of costs associated with this setup

Can = $170 (includes black anodized bracket)
SS Braided hose (6ft -6AN) = $26.95
Braided hose cutters = $42.95 really recommend these as they make life sooo much easier when cutting the hose to desire length.
(2) -6ANx1/4 NPT 90 degree fittings = $14.50
(1) -6AN Hose end 90 degree = $13.95
(1) -6AN Hose end straight = $4.88
(2) -6AN Earls econ-o-fit hose clamps = $11.90
(1) 4" Aluminum turn buckle = $9.00 (available at your local hardware store or Lowes/home Depot)
(1) 10mm Lock washer = $0.30
(1) Black 10mmx1.25"x1.50 pitch Allen bolt = $1.40
(1) 10mmx1.50 Tap = $7.00
(1) tube of blue loctite = $7.00

total cost of everything is right around $300. I didn't realize I had that much into it until I added everything up....damn!

That looks great! I am installing my CC this afternoon. I need to consider the braided hoses now! I love your engine cover and cross brace BTW. It looks similar to my setup:
