When would you expect a Z/28 reveal?

SEMA opens tomorrow with other shows following in the next few months. Is is possible a Z can be revealed at SEMA or one of the other shows?

My guess is that it will be released in January (If we get one). I found it interesting that they are going to make the ZL1 brakes available through the dealers. It's looking more and more like we will have to build our own Z28.

I agree, if there is a release, I would look to the Detroit International Auto Show in January.

My guess is there will not be a 5th Gen Z28

I find the V8 Performance concept interesting. It seems like it would cut into the 1LE sales if it is made available. The V6 version is a great idea and fits in with the track pack idea.

What makes you say the Z will be a build your own car for gen 5?

The ZL1 brakes being offered through dealers makes me go hmmmmm. Recipe; take a 1LE add your own ZL1 brakes, ZL1 aero & Crate LS7 = $47K? After selling parts.

midnighter 10-30-2012 09:42 PM

No Z28 http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/s...olleyes005.gif in this generation, already got the ZL1.

toehead93 10-30-2012 10:07 PM

While i agree there will be no Z28 it is not because we have a ZL1. I suspect we will see both in the gen 6 lineup, one NA and the other FI.

If the ZL1 was a Z/28, GM wouldn't have change the name...

I am not sure that they would announce a Z/28 at the same show they are going to debut the C7 Corvette...hmmmm or maybe they could, with the debut of that car, it would be a tell tale sign for things to come if the 5th Gen Z/28 shares the same motor as the C7?

That's true. Wouldn't want to steal any spotlight from the C7.

Don't give up hope.

I say if there is a 5th Gen Z, it will be maybe 100 or so. Probably come with a roll bar and not be real street friendly. But will be a MONSTER. Just a few made to whet the appetite for a true street friendly 6th Gen Z/28. And, if you are lucky to get one, they will be rare (assuming they make "any")...

blgl1800 11-02-2012 10:40 PM

:headbang: almost sounds like the COPO.

FINALLYSATISFIED 11-02-2012 11:06 PM

6th Gen, too many models as it is for the 5th Gen. 1LE hasn't even came out yet, Hot Wheels edition, etc. Could they release it as a 2014 model? Sure but that would only leave them 2 years or so for a model run then the 6th Gen releases. To me that just doesn't make sense for Chevy to release a Z/28.

OldScoolCamaro 11-03-2012 09:38 PM

....GM in the recent past does 500 model runs of LTD ED's. The Gen 5 chasis needs no roll bar...unless NHRA specs requires one to have it if it runs under a certain time. Also there would be other requirements as well, driveshaft loops etc...On the road course it would not be needed. COPO is a off road full race drag strip configuration in it's current form. If the _ _ _ comes in a send off, expect an over the top HP model, using all that GM has to offer in house right now, with a few surprises, and it will be a 500-2,500 model run production. Just sayin....err, mean predictin'....;)

Rumor has it that the SS nameplate will be dropped from the Camaro line up and replaced with Z28 in the 6th Gen. SS will be used only on the new performance sedan coming out next year. I don't like that idea and at this point it is just a rumor.

That's how I expect it too. It will probably be a mediocre track car like the SS too.

I've heard this as well...
