Too rich for my blood ...nice rims though.;)

mgaspari 03-26-2013 09:21 PM

trade my zl1 wheels for a set in gloss black :D

chicagobulls 03-26-2013 10:25 PM

I could buy a nice used car for that kinda money.

Nice rims but I wouldn't expect anything less for that price.

mlee 03-28-2013 12:12 AM

Guys... if you don't like the price then move on. I'm sorry, but quality high end forged wheels will cost this much all day long.

Try pricing some HRE's or D2 Forged.

True and on top of that; both of those brands use overseas forgings where ours are US forgings.

For the performance oriented Camaro owner reducing the unsprung mass of a wheel can help performance. The USW Forged Monoblock is a Lightweight Billet Design wheel whereby the 20" Monoblock Wheel weighs just 23.4 lbs Front and 24.1 lbs Rear. These are very light weight high quality wheels for the Camaro enthusiast. Let us know what we can build for you.

There are many wheel manufactures for the ZR1 style of wheel but the process used in manufacturing can differ. The two main process used in the manufacture of wheels are casting and forging; these process are briefly summarized.

Casting is the process whereby molten aluminum is poured into a mold. After cooling, final machining and finishing work is performed to have a nice finish. Some cast wheels maybe heat-treated as well. So what are the pros and cons of the casting technique of interest to customers? The "pros" to cast wheels is that they are cheap to manufacture and easily made in high volumes. The "cons" are that they are typically heavier than forged wheels due to their relatively low material strength properties.

Forging is the process whereby aluminum billet stock is cut to specified length depending on wheel size, heated, and pressed into shape using very accurate dies, successive steps. and pressure. Forging imparts energy into the metal thus altering the internal grain structure of the aluminum and imparting additional strength in comparison to the original billet rod. The USW Forged wheel is heat treated to a T6 condition in the case of 6061-T6 to get the right mix of strength and ductility. So what are the pros and cons of a forged wheel? The "pros" of a forged aluminum wheel is that it has a higher specific strength and higher toughness in comparison to a cast wheel. This allows an engineer to design a wheel that is lighter, stiffer and less susceptible to cracking under impact and with better fatigue properties than a cast wheel. The "cons" are that forged wheels are typically more expensive.

Actually, if you look at our priciing structure, if one person signs up they get a discount from $7000 retail to $5600; a savings of $1400. We think this is a substantial discount for a high quality American made product made in the USA with American manufactured materials. The best deals are to be found with the higher number of depositers. If we can round up 16 depositers the savings is $3400 per depositer, a substantial amount for a very good ZR1 wheel!

Hey USW,

How much do my 22's weigh? It's a question that I've always wondered but never remembered to ask.

I do not have the exact answer but because of the Lightweight Billet Design the 20" Monoblock Wheel weighs just 23.4 lbs Front and 24.1 lbs Rear. I would suspect that the 22" would be slightly heavier but not my much.
