Local tire shops

Hey guys, just wondering if you can recommend any good tire shops that won't [screw] up my rims when it comes time to replace my tires and get a mount and balance. I spent hours on them and I really don't want to have to replace any when some dumb punk high schooler [screw]s one up on the balancer. :P

Thanks!

Discount Tire on Highway 99 in Federal Way. Talk to Jessie. He used to hang around here under the name of MonsterV6, but has since sold his Camaro. He'll give you a good price. Make sure it's the one off Hwy 99 Between 320th and 312th, there are two in town.

Discount Tire 31414 Pacific Hwy South
Federal Way, WA 98003

(253) 946-0877

Make sure you mention Camaro5 when you talk to him

Thanks! I'll check it out. Do you know if they use air tools? If that's the case, I'd rather just put the wheels back on myself. :P

I have always taken all my cars to Discount Tire.
We've only been in Oregon for about two months, but have always used Discount Tire with great results. They guarantee everything. We have chromed OEM rims with Pirelli's and I took the car in for a rebalanced before I left Phoenix.
Of the four tires, two of them needed to rotated for better ballance. Both rims got scratched on the dismount machine. I was mortified! But the manager immediately jumped on the phone and arranged to get me two brand new rims to the store within hours. The new rims were back on the car the same day - of course all at no charge. If they couldn't get them in that day, they were going to have them shipped to Oregon and arrange to have them installed here.

They didn't mess up my wheels when they put them on the car.

True, but that's why I want to make sure. :P

Glad it worked out for you, but YIKES! They screwed up two rims? See, that would not work for me. You can't just buy my rims, that's why I'm so concerned and trying to prevent that issue... :\

Sounds like I'll be sending my tires there from Tirerack. :) Thanks for the recommendations guys. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Call Jessie first, he may be able to meet/beat their prices.

firestone_ss 05-04-2013 10:10 AM

you know firestone is an authorized tire rack installer,in fact most big companies are,you should really take the time and just go in and talk to some techs, your making this wayyyyyy harder than it needs to be,we have all installed tires and wheels much more delicate that what your wanting done. Who in there right mind pays for shipping wheels and tires so they can get them mounted? try any Firestone for aprox 65 dollars we mount all 4 and balance,if we screw it up we will take care of it, and we even offer lifetime balance

If you screw it up, you're going to spend hours masking and repainting my rims? Doubtful. :P

they would have to pay a body shop to do it. but it would still be on them.

firestone_ss 05-05-2013 12:38 AM

of course not,we replace wheels we screw up, it just doesn't happen too often.Just Im sure you will be fine good luck and have faith brother:thumb:

azrickster 05-05-2013 03:19 PM

In all fairness to Discount Tire, I have been going to them for years to take care of all my tire needs. I have never had a problem and always great service. My only complaint is sometimes I have to wait. The first time I ever had an issue was with the rims and they were all about making it right and quick. I would absolutely still go back.

ForgedReality 06-13-2013 05:23 PM

Thanks for the recommendations on Jessie. I'm getting my new Conti DWS installed on Monday. Got me a great price installed, beating TireRack's pre-shipping cost. :)

firestone_ss 06-13-2013 07:37 PM

hey let us know how they perform haven't heard anything from owners with them, always interested in other options, good luck!

Misty 06-13-2013 08:04 PM

Jessie got me a great deal but I made the mistake of having them installed at the Discount Tires in Bellevue instead of Federal Way. BIG MISTAKE They ended up putting scratches in all 4 of my painted wheels. They repainted them but did an awful job. So if you do get them from Jessie be sure to have them installed at Federal Way not Bellevue.

Definitely. I got 275/40-20 in the front and 315/35-20 in the rear. These are not factory rims though. That size will not fit the factory 20" SS wheels, FYI. :)

The reason I went with that size is I needed wider tires for these wheels and it was the only size that would not change my overall diameter and throw my speedo and odo off. Supposedly, it's not ideal going 315 on a 10" rim, but if there's a little bulge, I don't mind. But I've seen photos of these tires on these wheels, and it looks like damn near a perfect fit so I'm not worried.

Wow! Yeah, he offered to get them done at Bellevue as then I might not have to wait while the rears were ordered as they didn't have them in stock at Federal Way. Luckily, since you said that, that didn't work out so I'm getting them done at Jessie's shop. :) I'll be sure to stress that they be careful with my rims. Thanks!

I have Conti Extreme Contact DWS on mine. They are great. No problem with them failing to grip the road at all, even in the rain and I get pretty wild in the turns :headbang:

ForgedReality 06-13-2013 08:42 PM

Yeah I'm getting bald in the back on the factory tires. It was time for new ones before Sturgis. :P Plus the factory tires are just a bit too narrow for 8.5" and 10" rims.

MonsterV6 08-19-2013 11:15 PM

I haven't been on here for a while, and all I can say is WOW!!! Thanks everyone for the positive comments!!!

Misty I'm so sorry that happen there. I didn't expect that at all! Reason I recommended Bellevue because I started my career there and I know the do great work. From now on I'll have everyone come directly to me.

Wabbit 08-20-2013 09:51 AM

Jesse, I'll be seeing your shortly for some quotes on the DSW.

Firestone_SS, what does Firestone have for the 2LT/RS that I should be looking at?

I will probably be getting them in October right as the really rainy season starts.

ForgedReality 08-20-2013 10:15 AM

^DWS*? I love these tires btw. I might replace my wheels with the Nurburgrings though. Something a little wider than I have now so the DWS fit better.

I spent a lot of time custom painting the Foose rims I have now but I really like the look of the Nurburgring and the Foose Speed that I have are kind of an awkward size. 20x8.5 and 20x10 is hard to find two matching pairs of tires in the correct sizes. :\

GEEKFREEKSCOTTY 08-20-2013 11:26 AM

That is one thing that's handy about having my black rims.. if I scrape it, I can sand the area down and just put satin paint on. :)

Seems like the 3 tires that are popular is the DWS, Goodyear F1's, and the BFG GeForce Comp2's.
