ZL1 NOT SHIPPED-HELD FOR INSPECTION?

My car was built over 3 weeks ago and was supposed to have been shipped the next day. Becky had checked on it also and she confirmed it.Well I find out yesterday it is being held at the factory "for inspection" Whats up with that? You all know how hard it is to wait and it is about to do me in but come on,how long does it take to inspect a car? Is there something else going on that they are not telling me? Does anyone have any ideas of what is really happening?

Thats typical operation.... they pull cars every so often to do quality control and make sure everything is right. It's frustrating but theres not much you can do.

SlingShot 05-03-2013 07:45 AM

It's all good, your order just got pulled for an extended QC. It happens every so many cars that are built. No one is trying to be tricky, and not telling you the truth. There is no idea of knowing how long it will be there.

Mine sat for 5 week waiting for stripe for trunk lid. Built and bayed may 3/12. Car was not delivered at dealer until June 22/12. Seemed like 6 months!!!!

A bunch of us are waiting for ZL1's and 1LE's:

Well,no offense here guys but I wished they would have pulled someone else's car instead of mine!! I got really excited when I was told it was shipped and I ordered a bunch of parts for the car and I have already recieved them. Now I just sit and look at these parts hoping I will get the car to put them on! It's tough looking at all the parts but I will just have to hang in there I guess!

Look on the bright side, you're car will be perfect when you get it.

Performance Enthusiast 05-03-2013 09:06 AM

I believe all ZL1/1LE's currently at the plant are on QC hold.

Our cars from 2012 # 464 off the line went to Qc forever, then sat in the cold till they finally shiped, The wait was killing me so we know your pain. Hang in there your car will be home soon.

It had better be! I know it will but still they should move faster to get them out especially when it is a sold order and not just going to a dealer.

mine was held and its far from perfect

If it's like Corvette ALL of em go on a 2 week QC hold, the reason being that if an issue if found in production they can catch the cars before they ship. Then they pull random cars to do an extended QC check, some have been delivered with extra miles on them.

Mine has been built/bayed since 4/12. It's been 3 weeks now since then and has not been shipped yet. I understand what you are saying, but it appears 2 weeks is not a magic number in our case. The rest all sounds about what I expected.

SCHUSS 05-03-2013 01:18 PM

Mine was pulled into QC also, then all of the ZL1's were held because of the cold temps and the potential of the tires cracking. Don't know what the weather is there at the moment but if the temp dropped again that could be part of it.

That's how it appears to me. My 1LE was built 4/12 and I've been told it's been on QC Hold since it came back from the vinyl wrap for the hood. There have been deliveries of 1LE models prior to the 4/8 build week, but based on what I've gathered from this site none of the ZL1s or 1LEs have shipped from 4/8 on. My dealer called the Dealer Business Center yesterday and got thru to a manager and was told that they aren't informed why a vehicle is on Quality Hold and it just has to go through an inspection and will be on hold until it does. Really! Do they have just one inspector that works one day a week for about an hour a day? How long does it take to inspect a car?:frusty:
I wonder what part that is common between the ZL1 and 1LE but not the non1LE SS model or the LS/LT models has a problem.

3 weeks today!

Bigtime53 05-03-2013 09:24 PM

Mine was built april 11 and it showed to be shipped but was not. As of yesterday it is still bayed. I just wish they would get it out of there! We are at their mercy I guess.

My car was held up for the same reason.

you do absolutely nothing on here other than complain. Just go away already

Bigtime53 05-04-2013 05:44 PM

If any of you guys find out our cars are cut loose and GM decides to start shipping them please post up here. Maybe this monday or this week sometime they will start shipping them out of there. Thanks

Performance Enthusiast 05-06-2013 01:06 AM

It is my understanding that no ZL1/1LE has shipped out of the plant with the TPW of 4/8 or later. This is more than just a "waiting for inspection" process, you don't hold up hundreds of cars for over 3 weeks because you are simply waiting for them to be inspected. Unfortunately, GM doesn't feel that it is necessary to explain the details of the hold to its customer's, you are basically just given a TBD ship date and no other info!

ZL1RHINO 05-06-2013 01:33 AM

Man sorry to hear that guys I got lucky as the one I wanted was at a local dealer here in Texas

Anyone else laugh at this comment? Made me smile.:smiling1:

Bigtime53 05-06-2013 09:00 PM

Well looks like we are still sitting idle. I had Becky check today and there still is no movement of our cars. Man o man, Don't they {GM} know they are making us suffer!!

james347 05-06-2013 09:29 PM

Might be a good thing? Since when is Quality Control frowned upon?
