Front Splitter

Hey everyone!

Was wondering what everyone thinks of front splitters? Whats a good one?

Have a white SS with inferno orange stripes, looking to give it a more aggressive look. Thinking of splitter and grille replacement?

What color splitter? Carbon fiber? Ideas/pics anyone?

This is the beast

My vote is for color matched heritage grill and SLP splitter.

Yeah? Carbon fiber splitter? White heritage grille?

daveagogo1 05-16-2013 10:32 PM

Unless you happen to be planning some hardcore track car. There is virtually zero need for a real carbon fiber splitter on a stock car unless you just want that look and hate your money. The two best splitters in my book are stock ones or the SLP.

Heritage grill is a revised OEM GM grill to give it a more old school look.

timtim13 05-16-2013 10:34 PM

Yeah im leaning towards a black SLP lip and white heritage grille, badgeless i think....

Deftones 05-16-2013 10:37 PM

I'm not a fan of the fake "hydro dipped" carbon fiber look. The finish on the slp splitter was good enough for me. I feel it flows with the rest of the black grills.

I have the same car white heritage grill slp splitter. There's a picture in my garage take a look I love the compo.

What are your side skirts?

2012-1822 05-17-2013 04:41 AM

I'd say first and foremost crawl up under your front bumper and take a look at how much you've been scraping it already, if you have at all. My buddy had his bumper off on a '10 2SSRS yesterday putting a "carbon fiber" splitter on it and I just pointed out all of these scrapes and mentioned it would be that much worse with a splitter(his splitter drops down about 2 inches below his bumper). But his car is lowered and if yours isn't maybe you'll be alright.

The good thing about the ZL1 splitter is that it is very solidly mounted and it is that plastic that kind of holds up to a scrape, just tough enough, just enough flex. So just keep all that in mind.

I have 20's. 9" up front and 10" in the rear. I am running a +35 offset for the front and rear. Some are running a +20 offset up front which will cause the wheels to stick out just a little bit more than mine... both look good. As for 10.5" in the rear... DON'T DO IT. I have had these wheels for about 3 years and had to be a guinea pig when it came to finding the right size. 10.5" will stick out past your fender because it is the wrong offset for our cars. I know because I originally bought them. If you want to go wider I would recommend a different wheel. What size tire do you plan on running?

Its a toss up.. im still deciding on what size tire? Any recommendations?

I decided on 9" front and 10" rears 35 offset.

But im not sure if I want 20" or 22"???

I want to make sure my performance/ handling does not change, thats why im still considering what sizes exactly..

Im rocking the factory ZL1 sides skirts. Ordered them through Parts Taxi and had the local dealership paint them.

I kept the stock tire sizes for now. My car is supercharged, so I will be switching to a different tire soon. I would look into the Nitto Invos. They tend to run a little narrow, so you can run a 315 on a 10" A couple guys in our car club are running them on these wheels and it looks great.

VR Baron 05-17-2013 03:16 PM

SLP OR ACS splitter. I'm lowered 1 " and only scrape the very front bottom

I have the 1LE splitter from GM. Nice fit and finish and the best thing is it covers the entire underside of the nose which means you can cover up all of your past boo boos.

Oh ok, so you would recommend taking my stock tires off the stock rims and putting them on the New rims?
