biggerisbetter 05-17-2013 10:53 AM

i would do gears next

Bell040 05-17-2013 11:05 AM

If you are going to race it... gears
If you are going for HP and sound... cam

not much noticeable differences with intakes, h-pipes, pulleys... go big

greatmike 05-17-2013 11:57 AM

what gears 7 what cam

Camming an L99 isn't that easy. To do it right costs twice as much as an LS3.

I can vouch for that!

Custom dyno tune
Vararam, Haltech or rotofab intake.
Ud pulley
Gears
Cam

In that order IMHO.

I think If I purchased the L99 A6 I would go FI of some sort over the doing the Cam install
FI no need for a converter or the Bigger $$ switch for the Cam install. FI would be less costly with more punch dontcha think??

Scoop/washer tank relocation, gears and torque converter.

Pro Stock John 05-17-2013 06:19 PM

@ OP, do you race on the track or just want the car to be faster on the street?

good questions.... and op's question is hard to answer without them.

I would do a nice custom grind vvt cam head work and a tune by a vvt pro. but my needs and wants could be different than yours OP. also a better intake would be nice, and as Chase said a washer relocate and a scoop are a nice addition and i recommend it whole heartedly.

Any time you start modding an l99 and are considering cam and/or fi, it'd be a good idea to toss the afm lifters in favor of ls3's. AFM lifters don't hold up all that great in stock vehicles.

It really just depends on your goals, do you want a hp number, do you want a track number, do you want to race the car or just mainly daily drive the car. There are tons of great options and everyones opinion will vary. But in the end, you need to decide what your goals are, and then mod accordingly.

Fast loud street car. Not looking to run at tract too much.just bought a underdrive pulley to go with my mods

Rhino79 05-18-2013 11:13 AM

Id go for a good cam and custom tuning to accompany it. It will sound mean, have good power and will be a blast to drive!

greatmike 05-18-2013 06:27 PM

What about magna flow xpipe

SGOS252382 05-18-2013 06:34 PM

Converter - hands down the best mod for an L99.

Unless you're more into road racing (not drag racing). Converter is not a good choice for a road race car.

But if you're into drag racing, a higher stall converter should be your next mod.
