2013 1LE, 12.991 E/T, 100% stock

I just returned form the drag strip and I wasn't going to leave until I saw a 12 second ET :)

Notes
  • 100% bone stock 2013 1SS/1LE (tires, intake, tune, weight blah blah its all stock)
  • Child seat in back, full gym bag, some quick detailer, 2 California dusters, road side kit and a bunch of towels in the truck :) (25lbs? total)
  • Temps were 68 when I started at noon and 72 and sunny when I left.
  • 1/2 tank of gas (93 octane)
  • Elevation 827 feet above sea level
  • Drove an hour with no cool down and ran a 13.2 out of the box with rear tires at 35PSI
  • Track was slippery, tires spun
  • Shifted when the tach said 6200
  • Hot lapped twice with 2,13.0s....
  • Let it cool 1/2 hour and dropped the psi to 27/28, ran the same
  • Track was oiled down so I sat 2 hours and dropped PSI to 25.
  • Ran more 13.0s and then the 12.991
  • Called it a day!:headbang:
What I learned....
  • You MUST shift into 4th
  • 35 to 25 psi made no real difference in 60ft times.
  • Car will run 12s, 100% stock.
Math tells me with a set of drag radials I can run a 12.8 with a 1.9/60 and a 12.6/.7 with a 1.8 60ft....

Matt

PS: If any Cold Air Intake companies want to prove their product works bolt-on without a tune let me know as I am pretty consistent in this thing ;)

Great job Matt! So the 12.7 put up by MT is doable... maybe with a splash of fuel and no baby seat? :D

Thanks. Yeah its doable. But ideal conditions would need to apply. Prepped track, cool air and some abusive shifts would do it.

I had to drive mine home so I couldn't "go for broke" but I think I rung her out the best I could today.

Congrats!!! Just think if it was a cool 50 degrees out and the DA was - . You may have an .70 or .80 pass in it all stock.

Thanks....It would have been a .40 at Englishtown! :) Seriously you guys have some good air out there!

And on a side note the ZL1 splash guards did their job keeping the rubber off the paint. I see about $20?, $30?, $40? in rubber in my wheel wells.....I just hope it is not all mine :)

Here's your corrected time:

tramtwo 06-08-2013 07:03 PM

Well there we have it... how can the SS equipped with 1LE, which requires a shift into 4th, be a half second faster than a stock SS?

It's not:

Dropspeed 06-08-2013 07:12 PM

At least I would be in 15th position on that list...(I know, not same trans gearing or rear end gearing....)

tramtwo 06-08-2013 07:48 PM

That's my point... the guys at the top of that list have some serious 1/4 mile seat time. Do they not? I think your workman like runs are awesome Matt. 15th on THAT fast list with a baby seat strapped in. Woot!!

You're corrected time would have you fifth. The lighter wheels have to be the difference. Guess we can't make a direct comparison. Interesting non the less. :D

I wasn't sure If they made the list using actual or corrected times. I am very happy if it is corrected times.

I should have also noted above that I did not use the launch mode in any of the runs. I held the traction control down for the 7 seconds to turn everything off. I would come off the clutch quickly at about 2800-3000 rpm but feather it to control wheel spin. The car would spin the tires to about 4000 rpm and then hook and go.

That is the official stock list. NO corrected times.

Gotcha. Either way I feel pretty good. Just trying to figure out how The leader got it to hook and run an 8.1 1/8.

Congrats on the nice time. I have been out to Lapeer 13 times int he past 3 years with my Camaro, making over 150 passes. The one thing I can count on at that track is the inconsistency of track prep. Sometimes we hook sometimes we don't. I would think that if you can catch the right day, (usually early spring or late fall), with good air, get those tires warmed up well, allowing that 60' to drop a little more. You should see another tenth or two while still in stock trim.

Have you heard of our club?

Detroit 5th Gen Camaro club.

Come check it out, join us, we have many members who go out to Lapeer and make a day of it. We do many of the local events together and hang out often at various locations. Would love to see another 1LE join up.

Thanks. Yes, at Becky D recommendation I actually joined the Detroit 5th Gen site, I just haven't been there much. I will make it a point to check it out.

I have seen your car around the area, (It looks great) not sure where but I was out at the Bakers event last Saturday so it may have been there???

Thanks,
Matt

Thank - you and yes, I was at Baker's. Hope to meet up with you then at another event. Maybe even at Lapeer in the fall.

Great job. I'll bet it was fun. I love the baby seat in the back!

Our cars come with no lift feature, meaning u shift with foot all the way down on throttle...... Sounds like u need to go back.

I wasn't implying that its a crappy pass. You guys were wondering where it stood so I supplied the info. Go get some sticky tires and try it again. Just don't brake anything!!

We just bought a few of these infant seats. It weighs 36 lbs.

No, it's a good way to kill the synchro's in your transmission.

I didn't know that/didn't use it...Is that listed somewhere? I use to shift my EVO that way without a no-lift feature (1.5/1.6 60s, 11.3 @ 122) and the car needed 2 trans rebuilds in the 40K miles I kept it. Maybe for one glory pass, but I wouldn't use it every time.

I didn't take it that way at all....I like data and targets :) I was thinking I might get some rims /drag radials and see what she will do with only that as an upgrade. I have always liked to show that a stock can run strong times with a little seat time.

Thank you and sorry I was incorrect. I just double checked and then corrected above...Our last Recaro Profit was 22lbs, the Recaro VIVO booster is listed as 11lbs....Now I did have a full Gym bag, 2 California dusters, a roadside assist kit (jumper cables, flares ect). some detailer and a bunch of towels in the trunk so I figure a total of 25lbs extra is still accurate :)
