Chime in... Shop wants $125.00 for 3 dyno runs.. Is that fair?

Hi

Local shop where I live wants $125.00 for three dyno runs.

That sounds fair to me since I see they have in ground dynos but I wanted to hear what you all paid and think. thx

Should I keep looking or is this fair?

I am putting the mace insulators on - both of them and getting some BBK headers and a tune from Vince.

I will be dynoing the spacers first and then a month later the tune and the headers.

I just want to see what my baseline is before I dig into the car.

http://www.reevesrpmperformance.com/ here is the link if anyone wants to see the dyno. They have two runs posted.

$42 a dyno run. thats a steal!

turboguy327 06-18-2013 04:20 PM

That's. great price.

meshamey 06-18-2013 04:45 PM

wow great price

AirManFL 06-18-2013 04:50 PM

The shop I go to charges $75 for 2 pulls so it isn't too far off.

Well now it sounds like I might need to call around.

SC2150 06-18-2013 06:03 PM

You may find an old 2 wheel dyno non eddy current loaded for $75, but most modern dynos are $100-$150 for 3 pulls.

You want the accuracy of a newer machine IMHO.

JDP Tyler 06-18-2013 06:09 PM

That is right around what we charge, sometimes less depending on the circumstances. So not a bad deal and not a great deal. Average I would say for a reputable dyno shop.

Best regards,

Wait, you are putting on 2 isolators? Is that good?

Might be referring to the insulator and plenum spacer

PoorMansCamaro 06-18-2013 06:41 PM

Oh. Makes more sense. Lol

This thread belongs in the LLT forum, not the LFX forum.

But IMHO, that's hella expensive. We just had a dyno day - so admittedly it's a better deal - but we did two pulls for $50.

That sounds like a very fair price, the only call I would be making is the one to schedule my 3 runs.

rock1962 06-20-2013 12:40 AM

Good price where I am the closet shop with a dyno charges 225

Wizzer 06-20-2013 04:53 PM

Thx

Yes that's what I am doing. And my bad... I meant to put it in the llt section but once I saw where it went I figured you guys should know prices as well. Thx for all the input.

Wizzer.

Ask them about an hourly rate... A lot of places I've talked to will charge 80-150 for a 3 pull "baseline", but both places I have used also has the option to "rent" it hourly, one place was $109/HR and the other was $120/HR, and you can typically get a lot more than 3 pulls in the hour for about the same price. Especially handy if you want to compare products, stock vs new aftermarket parts, etc.

V6owner 06-21-2013 01:12 AM

I paid $75 for 3 pulls

45thCAMARO 2SS/RS 06-21-2013 01:17 AM

That's good a fair deal, the shop around here charges $55 bucks per dyno run, so $125 is fair

Tavo32 06-21-2013 08:51 AM

Hmm guess I got a steal as well. Phastek charged me $100 for the dyno time when I got tuned by Matt from FSP. He probably got like 8 runs in

2010SLVRBULIT 06-21-2013 08:57 AM

avg $, guessing...don't forget to post your before/after #s.

Will do.

Getting the run done is the first week of July.

Adding the mace spacers. Plenum and intake. Ordered and arrived.

Polishing the tb a bit.

Polishing the intake as well.

In aug I am adding the BBK headers and getting tune from Vince.

In sept I am putting a 100 shot of nos in there. Going to dial it to 55 and work up. Not a racer just want it for late night taco runs.

Then I am dynoing 2 runs with the mods and 1 run with the 100 shot of nos.

That is if that can be safely done. I truthfully never saw a nos run on a dyno but it it's allowed I am gonna do it.

Other than than I really want to dig in there and see how much oil and carbon built up.

Probably will be getting the catch can. We will see.

Thx for the inputs on price.

It all depends on where you live, but in vegas where the are a lot of shops with dynos the prices are pretty good. cheapest ive seen is 50 for 3 pulls, most are 75 for 3-5 pulls and the higher end of this is there is a dynojet office here and charges 100 for 3 runs.

Wow. That's really good. I think the law of supply and demand is working well for you guys there.
