My buddy sold me my gxp to buy this boss and I made the maiden voyage lol. 9xx miles bone stock. I took it down twice with best pass of 8.35 @ 84mph. MPH was low because I hit the rev limiter twice lol. I hate the trannyshifter in it........

Im the driver of the boss lol. Solo run maiden voyage. If I had some seat time in it I could probably get some 8.20s out of it on average. It wasn't a kill, just was saying for my first time in the car I think it quick for stock.

Them BOSS are beast from factory. Slap some slicks 100% stock you'll see 7.90s easy!

I believe it. I've heard of guys getting consistent 8.0s on DR. Its something to get adjusted too getting out of my ls3/tr6060 and going to a coyote/Chinese tranny lol. Ford definately done their homework on the 5.0 engine. I hate how slow it revs in neutral/clutch in. Revs weak compared to the ls3, probably some nannies involved in that.

Were you using the track "tuned" key? I think theres 2 keys one has a factory aggressive tune.

No. I thought that was the Laguna boss that came with the track tune key.

Nope, the key comes from Ford Racing and you buy it and have the tune installed. Gives better throttle response, different engine mapping, tighter steering, and turns on the launch control. Also enables track key idle, so it sounds like you have an aggressive cam.

My car is stock except lts and intake with a tune. Fastest its been is 8.40s. The boss doesn't gave 1000 miles on it yet. I'll let my buddy know he can get the keep from ford.

I don't see how. I said I took a boss down the 1/8 in the thread title which I did. My opening post I said that my buddy that sold me my gxp so he could buy a boss(the one I took down the strip) and I made its maiden voyage meaning I was the first to drag racing at the track. I took it down the track twice and my best pass was a 8.35 @ 84mph. I seen the first two responses seemed to misunderstand what had happened so I clarified on my second post that I was the driver of the boss and that it was a solo run meaning no one in the other lane. Added that it wasn't a kill(since I was the driver of the boss and the only car on the track).
Post 10 was just talking about my gxp mostly and that may have been confusing.

Glad you had fun and congrats on the GXP! Confess I too was confused. When you say you took a "Boss down" I read it that you actually slayed the Boss as if you were competing against it.

Yep they have quite the throttle delay.

I only posted this up because its a competitor to the 5th Gen. With me never driving one before and running low 8s I figured I would post the experience up especially since most of you ss owners probably will never drive one down the track.

My buddy has a 13 Boss.With the factory track tires,Kooks headers,Driveshaft shop driveshaft.Best so far,he ran a 12.4 at 116mph,2.01 60ft.DA was in the 700 range.
With the track key,91 octane.

Any new 5.0 is a good driver and great conditions away from running mid 12's bone stock.

the track key does nothing but give you a cool idle.

and you're lucky you could find second gear in that thing.

they really are a sweet car. and pull really well over 6000 rpm. but the poor trans and sound system kinda turn me off.
