Not sure about rear bow tie

2 Attachment(s)
I have the black Defenderworx bow tie on the rear of the car, but it seems like color has faded over time. As you can see in the pic, it's a really faded black and the rest of the car isn't. I'm not sure I like the looks of it any more. I'm thinking of just removing the rear bow tie. The second pic is a quick photoshop of how it would look. I don't think the back would look too plain, since I have the "supercharged" badge and "SS" badge back there.

Opinions:iono:

that supercharged badge is ugly.. on a side note how do you take the bow-tie badge off? isn't there a hole it was clipped into?

Only 2010 Camaros had any holes for the rear bow ties. They were just for positioning though, all model years they are held on with two sided tape. Most people use dental floss or fishing line to cut through the tape. Then use Goof Off to remove the adheasive left behind. There are other methods you can do a search on "Emblem Removal" and read other methods.

I used 12lb. test fishing line. Dental floss kept breaking. Recommend warming the badge (and thus, the sticky tape) with a medium-heat hair dryer first, to soften the tape. That stuff stick big time.

I think your car looks good without the Bowtie. I took off my little SS in the corner, and then the Bowtie. Was gonna leave it plain, but my 2010 had holes. So I stuck a red Sparks SS over the holes.

are the camaro side badges the same? ive been debating removing them, not too sure..

blackswan 06-21-2013 08:26 PM

Yep - the side badges are held on by tape only

Op - I think the car looks really plain without any badging on the rear. You could look to get another form of bowtie or a different badge entirely

I like the bow-ties on my SS, they are almost white looking. I don't know if they are special to the Transformer Edition or not, but my other two cars didn't have them.

I took my bowtie off my 2012, no holes, & got a bowtie painted CFM from Lupe, his username is overhaulengines I think, he does a good job. I used the fishing line then got some automotive adhesive remover spray, worked like a charm. Here is a pic...

I took mine off. Used fishing line, just be careful and don't rub it on the paint. Then used a rubber wheel and the sticky tape was gone.

I like the trunk badge functionally, it's what I use to shut the trunk.

What you said. ^^^

Thanks for the input. Aside from removing the bow tie and keeping it plain, I thought about getting one of the large SS emblems for the empty spot. I'd probably keep the supercharged emblem as is, and remove the smaller SS. I have a white SS emblem in the center of the front grille now.

If I go with a sparks SS, what's a good color for a black car? Red or white, or maybe black?

Overflow 06-21-2013 09:40 PM

I like it with the bowtie.

White to balance it out with your front emblem

+1 yes front and rear should match emblem wise.

E.T. 06-21-2013 09:50 PM

Ever consider something like this? :noidea:

I saw it on a black Camaro before, looked pretty nice.

RonnieG 06-21-2013 09:52 PM

i think the bowtie looks fine.. like it's meant to be dark grey.. then again it may be more faded than I'm noticing.. i personally don't like when things have too little badging.. that plainness you speak of.. paint it maybe?

i like the supercharged emblem, just not sure i like the placement.. different centering than the SS.. if you go with the SS in place of the bowtie maybe shift supercharged towards right side?

i bought the cheap publix (grocery) brand floss and it worked fine for removing the SS.. just make sure you heat it up enough i guess...
