Poll for those with Automatics

Do you do most of your driving in "D"?
Do you do most of your driving in "S"?
Do you do most of your driving in "M"?

For me, I think my car responds and drives best in Sport Mode.

pannhead51 06-22-2013 10:19 AM

70% in D, 20% in M, 10% in S ...depends on how frisky I'm feeling :D

SuperSport2011 06-22-2013 10:19 AM

I always drive in M but when I wanna pass someone I turn the paddle shifters on drop a gear and step on the gas.

pmandeep 06-22-2013 10:21 AM

I am mostly driving in "S" now, however sometimes when I feel like cruising along I will keep in "D".

Mr_Draco 06-22-2013 10:29 AM

Most of my time is in D because it's mostly interstate. But around town I use S.

DFWHD 06-22-2013 11:04 AM

90% D, 10%S

RubyCamaro 06-22-2013 11:04 AM

I almost never use "D". Vast majority of the time in "S". It is sooooooooooo much more responsive & fun in "S". I have used "M" only playing around with it or the couple of times I got caught out in a sudden serious snowfall.

Dtrimpi87 06-22-2013 11:08 AM

100% M. Only used D and S once when I first got the car.

SSeniorMoment 06-22-2013 11:40 AM

I'm getting acquainted with the newness of the 2SS, so most of my driving is in D, however, there are conditions when I switch to M.

Lgndryhr 06-22-2013 11:45 AM

My V6 I drive in S only.

My V8 I drive in D more.

GunnyG 06-22-2013 11:46 AM

Manual Mode Only!

Jason@JacFab 06-22-2013 11:50 AM

"D" for me... This stupid 2LS doesn't have sport mode, so Manual mode is just about useless... It reminds me more of Tow/Haul mode that trucks have.

KMPrenger 06-22-2013 12:29 PM

Mostly D for regular driving, but I thoroughly enjoy S, and when I want to have more fun I use M. Some owners may feel M mode is dumb for an automatic equipped car, but I love it, and would really have to lose it.

I can't believe anyone would drive this car around in M all the time.

I guess to each his own..:iono:

Dizzy82 06-22-2013 12:54 PM

"D" Highway
"S" City
"M" City/Mountain

Grimlock 06-22-2013 12:58 PM

I drive in D as I do a lot of city/congested driving. I'll let it go in M if I have room to play or a need to go faster. I don't want my car to think the stop and go traffic is something to implement into the M mode's shifting...if that makes any sense.

Always in "S"

PalmerGA 06-22-2013 01:23 PM

Now that I have the Range AFM Disable device, mostly "D". I'll pop it into "S" mode now and then for less than interstate driving. Very rarely use the paddle ("M") mode.

for everyday driving I use M 100% of the time.
my imp ss I manual shift it too most the time lol.
I have CFDs pistol grip shifter and using it is like rowing a manual like I used to do pre-accident with my earlier stick cars.
intuitive and it works better than the paddle shifters.
I like how the PCM blips the throttle on downshifts too :D

I actually wish I had a manual. If I trade up, it will be.

I was actually going to mention that.

If I had an auto, I wouldn't be considering the Z/28

BreakingBad 06-22-2013 02:11 PM

someone educate me...

I've exclusively driven in "D", with my 2LT automatic.

I've never owned a manual car, let alone driven one. That being said, I've also never used paddle shifters.

I see many talking about using "S" mode in the city, while on the highway use "D"..

few questions (i'm a dummy, cars aren't really my hobby moreover just a nice car that i happen to like)

1.) Manual. If I were to switch into Manual mode in my Automatic, how exactly...do I drive the damn thing? LOL again I've never driven a manual or know how to, so if I ever feel adventurous I'd like to know exactly how to shift, when to shift, which paddles to use and when, etc.

2.) Sport mode. What exactly is this? What's the difference between sport mode and normal 'drive' mode? I do a lot of city driving, is it better to be in S mode? Do I have to shift in this mode, or is it essentially still an automatic in this mode?

3.) Traction control - when is it beneficial to use this and to not use it? I do not race, probably never will. Although, there are times I do want to pass some people on the highway - is it beneficial to turn this off to gain speed or something?

yes, i'm a noob. shame me all you want :)

Guess I'm one of the few.

Startup routine:

Foot on brake.
Insert key.
Turn key.
Shift to "M"
Tap "+" shift paddle once.
Off brake. Ease on throttle.
