Who Is Buying?

Like the title says...who is buying a Z/28?

1. You are serious and stoked, you've already signed a buyers order and placed a deposit. You are locked in. Fess up and be proud.

2. You've got a half-assed handshake deal or word of mouth arrangement with your dealer "buddy" or some kind of otherwise non-written, non-binding "deal" which everyone else knows will end in a post here a year from now about how you "got screwed" because the dealer rep never got you a car, or asked for some crazy mark-up that killed your "deal".

3. Plan to buy but just lazy and/or haven't comprehended there are only going to be 1500 made. So, for example, only half of US dealers would get one car, or only the top 25% of all dealers will get two cars, there are several eye-opening ways to look at it. You'll scramble for an allocation once the order book opens late this year.

4. You hope you can pull off a purchase but only if the stars align and depends a million variables/excuses in regards to the car or in their lives. It is all going to depend on how things are in your world once the allocations are announced.

4 with a pinch of 2...will need a slide rule, major planetary alignment, some real cunning, some likely thievery in a sense and mucho lucko!!!

90503 08-21-2013 11:22 PM

Four would be my only hope....Maybe if the economy crashes, a winning lottery ticket, some guy has to sell one cheap, gets in over his head or whatever...No way I'm in now with an unknown price, etc....

Not gonna drive myself crazy over the whole thing, but will stay tuned for what happens in a year or so...will there be a '15 model...will there be a 6th Gen on a different platform, etc...a few factors that may have me looking more seriously down the road....

ZWA SS 08-22-2013 01:25 AM

I'm option 5. Wishing I could buy one.

MarkSS 08-22-2013 01:48 AM

Where's the option for dreaming of owning but to broke to afford it?

Steve_RS_Camaro 08-22-2013 01:18 PM

#1 but have not signed anything or put down any money I am just activly talking to the Dealer every other week and that is probably going to start to be every week here soon.

2cnd chance 08-22-2013 05:10 PM

If you read through my past threads you'll question my not buying one. I've decided to either buy a 2014 1LE and add the Z/28 parts I want or buy a Z51.

mkorgan 08-22-2013 06:24 PM

Price...Price...Price. I am a car enthusiast and when I do track my cars it is 1/4 mile at a time. This was not the purpose of the Z/28 so it does not fit my need from a track perspective.

I have a ZL1 and love it. If I wanted to road course a car, my ZL1 would be more than adequate for my novice capabilities. HOWEVER, I want the Z/28 and if the price is right I will add it to my garage but I have made this decision....there is no way in hell I am getting rid of my ZL1. So...if I can get one. I will. But I am not getting rid of my ZL1 to be able to afford it. Not happening.

...I am all in, and the thing that keeps me in the game is the "north of 56,5K" comment recently posted by Mr. O. To me, that has alot of weight to predict the price of what the production model will come in at....and it will not exceed the dire price predictions posted here on C5. Time will tell though. Otherwise, I am SOL. :smiling1:

DragAficionado94 09-01-2013 04:05 PM

Just finished paying off the zl1 and traded it in for a z28 the guy said i should get a real good appraisal for it and we started everything but he left the total blank for it lol but i kust cant wait

So Cal Camaro 09-02-2013 12:42 PM

There are too many if's still to know whether it can be had...like how many will actually be available...and whether the dealer I use will actually end up with an allocation...and how much they decide to mark up when then get the allocation...even though they say they'll sell it at MSRP today...good luck to all who wants to try and get one...

Man, #2 described me dead on..!
Makes me want to move on up to the #1.

OldScoolCamaro 09-04-2013 12:27 AM

...well, the poll's language is a bit over the top for even my cocky arrogant nature... :) ...LOL, I will honestly say however I am all in and will trade my ZL1 in for it if comes in around a price I feel the car should sell at. There has been a wide margin of speculation on that price. Time will tell by the fall of this year.

Col. Brain 09-04-2013 03:31 PM

im up and down

i would love to have it - i just dont know if i want it. Not sure it would get enough track time. Plus the 1LE is not that far off from a performance stand point for just under 40k.

20k min price difference is a twin turbo kit and a set of wheels :D

Right, you could even get a built LS7 and drop it in the 1LE, sell the LS3, plus wheels, etc etc

strych9 09-04-2013 03:58 PM

OP, you forgot the "I'm not interested in the Z/28" poll option. If it were there, I would have checked it.

Congrats! You're the only one of the "original diehard" Z/28 guys going to buy one.
