2014 SS 1LE with hood vinyl, anyone?

Wondering if anyone has pictures of a 2014 1LE with the vinyl on the hood removed. Thanks :smoking:

Only because no one else has responded, here you go

YES, that is a Z/28, but it is the same hood and front fascia with some black wheels...........pretty much the same look a 1LE will have without hood wrap. If that doesn't work for you, use the Google and search 2014 Camaro SS images and squint a bit to pretend there is a chin spoiler on it :)

CalmAero 09-04-2013 02:42 PM

LOL thanks. I'm sure a least a couple people with a '14 1LE will wanna ditch the vinyl. But you're right. I squinted at that pic and I'm sure it's the way to go now.

Just be careful we had a customer 2 weeks ago want the vinyl removed and when it was being taken off the hood had a lot of defects in the paint. Almost looked like chevy used a hood that was a blem and just wrapped it...The hood had to be repainted

The paint is perfect on my hood.

Many 2013 owners removed their vinyl wrapper on the hood and the paint was perfect underneath. It'd be nice if Chevrolet made a comment online here about the 2014s. Frankly, I'd assume, it's easier for the factory to just paint the car then wrap but, who knows, maybe they are expecting more demand this year and changed their production process in anticipation of demand in a way to save manufacturing costs.

There are guys in the factory that watch these threads. I have no idea if their employment contract forbid them from disclosing this kind of information but if they are so permitted it'd be very helpful for 2014 owners.

Removed mine and flawless. Just had to remove glue residue.

Love the Z28 look!

I would never question the integrity on the Canadian GM workers but the fact that the Camaro run is coming to an end there has to be a factor in staying motivated. That is to say that it is very easy to begin looking ahead on a new project before the current one has been fully completed. Finish Strong :canada:

So, I'm not questioning work ethic. I'm questioning production ops cost savings. I used to work in manufacturing and it would not surprise me if they changed their process in 2014 to save some dough thus perhaps explaining this guy's experience. Maybe someone working there can confirm (if they are allowed).

I miss the wrap
It peeled right off. I unscrewed the hood scoop. Peeled it off in 20 minutes. No residue, perfect paint underneath.
Got tired of the wrap being dirty, pain in the ass to keep clean.

Correct those are awesome!

Woolmank - I've been thinking about removing my wrap...looking at yours REALLY makes me want to do it. However, I'd REALLY miss that distinctive "black" hood...it really differentiates the 1LE from the rest of the Camaro's on the street. Have you thought of painting the hood black...that's what I'm thinking.

Buffman 10-28-2013 08:20 AM

Agreed wrap is the main thing right off the bat that sets the 1LE apart...and the non-glare of the wrap is ideal when driving :)

SVThis 10-28-2013 03:28 PM

I took mine off and so far am glad I did. More beautiful red paint to admire:drool:

SVThis 10-28-2013 08:24 PM

I've been driving cars for 43 years and have never been bothered by glare off of a hood. I get more glare off my head than anything.:)

Midnight Rat 10-28-2013 08:43 PM

wrap that head up, lol.

I love my wrap gone. At first I missed it. Like alot. But looking down the hood at that AGM paint is way better to me.
Yes having the black hood totally makes it a different car cause first glance peoole dont know its a 1LE
guess what... I dont care what other people think.
Every time I turn the wheel, I know. Ha
and no. I don't think im gonna paint it. Not gonna do any strips I dont think. I like the plain look..
I cant wait for blackout kit for the rear. Thats about all I'll do
I was thinking of red rally strips on one side. But can't decide.
im so confused. Ha

VOGGS-LS3-1LE 10-30-2013 05:12 PM

I second the confusing state of mind when it comes to wrap or no wrap. I love it when it looks good, hate it when it looks like crap, need to find a better quality wrap, I think that would make all the difference.

Vbh_1LE 10-30-2013 05:19 PM

I'm an engineer, but I don't work for GM. It's easier, and less expensive to paint the hood and then wrap it. A paint defect of any type would be a quality issue.
