Re wrapped hood

After my OEM hood wrap was damaged from a detailer. I decided to re wrap in carbon fiber. Very happy with result....

Wow, that is definately different.

Do you plan to have the rear spoiler done to match the hood?

Sps 10-25-2013 11:45 AM

Yes and maybe front splitter, did front and rear bow ties also

White_SS/RS 10-25-2013 12:17 PM

Cool, i did the same thing on my '12 SS

Sps 10-25-2013 12:24 PM

I like it, I know it's not to everyone's taste......photos don't do it justice

Vbh_1LE 10-25-2013 01:11 PM

Very nice! I have thought of this myself. I am guessing you used the good (3M) stuff? Was it difficult?

Antagonistic 10-25-2013 01:28 PM

That's awesome. Tell s more

Antagonistic 10-25-2013 01:29 PM

How about one or two more pics of that hood

Sps 10-25-2013 01:54 PM

I used Hexis 3D Wrap. I watched installer, took him about 2 hrs. He said the stuff was great was very impressed with it

beany323 10-25-2013 02:23 PM

avg cost for materials and labor? thnaks. nice look!

midnighter 10-25-2013 02:26 PM

That looks awesome.

Sps 10-25-2013 02:27 PM

$87 for the wrap 60x66 Is on offer from headlight Armor.. Labour was $80 plus I tipped the guy, he did both bow ties also

Wileycoyote 10-26-2013 03:13 AM

Looks real good, and at that price you can't go wrong.

fgg60 10-26-2013 05:47 AM

That looks really nice!!! Does the material have a warranty?? I know the 3M carbon fiber was only 3 years on VERTICAL surfaces only. If this stuff is better than it would be a huge deal
.....

scruffyluv 10-26-2013 09:21 AM

wow.. you just gave me a perfect Christmas Idea.... a ZL1 insert in blue ray metallic with this carbon fiber wrap.....

scruffyluv 10-26-2013 09:40 AM

where did you get the wrap? I did a quick search online and the price was alot higer than $80

Stop having others detail your cars and do it yourself.

SUKXOST 10-26-2013 10:07 AM

super cheap. When I rewrapped mine I specifically stayed away from CF as it tends to discolor easier and the "waves" that it visulally creates with the raise in the hood.....I didnt want it to look too wavy or not aligned properly. Yours looks pretty good!

Or... not :)

Sent from the road.

How is the upkeep compared to the OEM matte black. That's the main reason I would switch. I'm hopin the carbon can just be wiped down.

This would be my big question too. Really like the look.

PYROLYSIS 10-27-2013 11:52 AM

Looks great. Do have any pics from a little farther away?

Top~Dog 10-28-2013 05:32 AM

I know the original matt black can be taken off and the original paint stays intact - with a little detailing, will look great. But, is it the same for the Hexis?
