That's more what I was hoping for 30hp seemed a lil on the low side

I'm thinking this is the cam for me . Is it a smooth running cam or real loopy ?

Bubble85 01-05-2014 06:47 PM

Smooth

Bo White 01-05-2014 06:59 PM

Yep, smooth. Reason why I didn't go with it when I bought a cam.

united1 01-05-2014 07:05 PM

This or the night fury cam

Gt9 is great for a positive displacement blower. I got it verbatim from LPE not to use that cam with a centrifugal. In a nutshell it has to do with the boost curve of pd vs centri. Much better cam choices out there for a centri.

grocerygetter 01-05-2014 09:18 PM

And u guys do know the ls9 is much more tame than a gt9?

I'm sure I could have spec'd as custom cam for my setup, but the GT9 is working great with my D1SC. I especially like the wide LSA for my automatic. Of course, my boost curve is different from other centris because of my wastegate.

For the OP, I added my GT9 before I added the blower, when I was full bolt-ons. I gained 50rwhp. FWIW.

Padre

Thanks padre

Spoke with Ryan @ LPE directly when I was researching. They said almost verbatim:

"The GT9 cam was specifically designed for the TVS 2300 blower and has hundreds of hours of testing put into it to get it just right."

94guy 01-06-2014 12:22 PM

it is also pretty hard on valvetrain parts. it has the lsk lobes.

Bubble85 01-06-2014 12:24 PM

Called lpe I was told that the gt9 cam is fine for centri and if they were building that's what they would use. They also said I should only expect to see 30-35 rwhp gain

grocerygetter 01-06-2014 03:01 PM

You may have got some random tech. The guy I talked to said out of the LPE line to use the GT11. After doing my own research the GT11 isn't bad, but still not optimal for boost. The GT9 is optimal for boost...but it is specifically made for the roots blowers.
If you can't get 80+whp off a cam on a blower car...look elsewhere. I'm telling ya...with a centri, you are barking up the wrong tree.
I did my research and thus netted 110whp off a cam swap. Trust me here.

Bo White 01-06-2014 03:02 PM

I don't think Ill gain 80hp with my 227/243-114.

Trob85 01-06-2014 03:41 PM

I was was told it wasn't the best for centrifugal blowers. After looking around I thought I would look into testing on what a gm cam can make. I'm going to try to make 780-800 rwhp on corn.

Bo, I gained 90 rwhp with a smaller but very similar cam to yours 227/239-115 same lift. I think you will get more out of yours. I also lost a 1 lb of boost

Bo White 01-07-2014 12:11 PM

Like I said I don't think I'll gain 80 lol, jk.
As long as I'm 650rwhp on the dynos local to me I'm good. Anything more than that is just icing on the cake.
I'm expecting some loss in boost. I've ported enough cylinder heads for boosted cars to see that happen, its no biggie on that end.

Detoxx03 01-07-2014 12:14 PM

Better cams out there. Get someone to cut you a custom grind for your car. Doesn't cost much more or get a proven centri cam.
