Attention all Camaro SS 6-speed manual transmission owners

As posted on Homepage.

Many of you are understandably concerned regarding whether your Camaro is potentially afflicted with the same issue that has caused a small group of 6-speed Camaro SS's to experience transmission output shaft breakage. Rest assured, GM has now represented that they will contact by phone *every* owner who currently owns a Camaro SS with 6-speed manual transmission IF it has or is suspected of having faulty parts which may lead to such issue. This will begin as soon as the GM's internal investigation into the issue is completed, hopefully within the next two weeks.

This means that if you do not hear from someone at GM regarding your car, then your transmission is fine.

I'm also guessing we should be able to contact GM customer service as well in a few weeks if we have not received a call and they would know if our car is or isn't affected as well in case we missed the call?

06blownSS 07-22-2009 12:23 PM

wow I love that glossy black shift ball knob! lol

This is good news. thanks for the update.

Please keep this thread on-topic. As for the shifter image used on the homepage, it's only meant to be representative of a manual transmission car, and is off a SEMA camaro. I just used it because I love how it looks :)

JustAGuy 07-22-2009 01:20 PM

Rats!!! Does this mean I have to start answering 1-800... numbers on the phone? Looks like I get to hang up on a bunch of marketing people . . .

Sorry, I meant to add that I think this is awesome GM is doing this. I don't really want to break it by accident but I don't want to bag drive the car to test it either. Way to go GM . . .

Thanks Tran!!! Great job on the Customer Service GM!!!

No need to leave it in the garage!

Just don't do a bunch of burnouts until we give you more info.......

Mark Lew 07-22-2009 03:06 PM

ok, thx for the info, so what happen if the car still in QC & waiting for shipping? Mark.

worst case scenario is it breaks and you call road side assistance and they bring it to a dealer to fix it. It will be alright as long as you dont hammer it.

ljustin293 07-22-2009 03:17 PM

thanks for the info Tran

TheNetGarage 07-22-2009 03:20 PM

It'd be a lot nicer knowing the #'s... rather than waiting for a call. :)
