Z28 spoiler on 1LE pics and info, and problems.

HI,
I wanted to pass on a little information on the Z28 rear spoiler.

I asked my boss at work if I could test fit one of the Z28 AKA Blade spoiler's on my car to see if the holes lined up on my 1LE.
To my suprise they do line up.

The only problem is the factory 1LE spoiler had rubbed clear through the paint down to the primer in a couple of spots where it touches the paint under the spoiler!

The Z28 spoiler does not extend quite as far as the 1LE in two spots, so if you are unlucky like me you will see the marks when you put the Z28 spoiler on.
I took a pic to show this.

When I put my factory 1LE spoiler back on it covered the spots up.

So I will be keeping my factory 1LE spoiler for now. I am not happy as I really like the Z28 spoiler.

On a better note I just put on a B&B Fusion ZL1 exhaust on my car and love it! Notice tips in the pictures.

Pics.

And lastly here is the picture of one the spots I am talking about where the factory 1LE spoiler rubs the paint:

Whoa, looks killer! :coolpics:
Too bad the stock spoiler left the rub marks! :mad0260:
Not sure if I would keep the gloss finish or go with a matte finish closer to the stock 1LE spoiler?

Agree that it looks killer:drool:. Would also want to repaint in a matte finish to match everything else ,but glad to know we don't have to drill any more holes.

Close to 600 bones, ouch! Heck if it was more reasonable it would be on my car now!

I'm hoping the wickerbill will fit the 1le spoiler. Realistically I think it may provide better balance for me on the track since I don have the massive downforce in front from the z28 splitter. Plus I can remove it when I hit the highways

No it will not. The trunk lid is not the same as the 14's

I also agree that if I were to run it I would paint it a matte finish.
GM only offers gloss black and a few other colors.

I took mine off to put this spoiler on,and thankfully i didn't have any paint/rubbing issues. I had put blue painters tape on part of the hood when i was making sure the new one fit.I left the tape on for a few days, and now i have some marks that i cant get out.

I would bet that those rub marks would be covered under the warranty as that could start to rust in a short time. Or is it Aluminum? Either way it should not rub IMO.

Did you try Meguiar's 105 cutting compound?
