GM will NOT destory Camaro's style for NASCAR

The 2010 Camaro will NOT be in NASCAR like the 2010 Mustang. Because

As much as I love Nascar..........good call GM! That stang looks horrible.

The_Blur 08-05-2009 09:05 PM

In other words, GM is basically stating that the NASCAR Mustang could not be uglier, even if it looked like a Nissan Cube.

Vash 08-05-2009 09:05 PM

Damn props to GM for not giving in. :chevy:

If they want to promote it should just have Chevy stickers and maybe a Camaro sticker on the side.

But not the fake stuff.

Gentry78 08-05-2009 09:06 PM

awesome GM great call

RedRaider 08-05-2009 09:07 PM

i like when a company is so proud of thier product they never want to jump on a bandwagon for rep/marketing... gg GM

ShnOmac 08-05-2009 09:14 PM

Now Camaro in GT2 in American Lemans would be awsome.....

AGREED!!!...

and BTW, I am a HUGE NASCAR fan and would love a NASCAR Camaro, however, I do not want to see a "modified" Camaro...love those Camaro Pace Cars!!!!...

Way to go, GM, good decision...:chevy:

Scrapppy666 08-05-2009 09:23 PM

wow that mustang... :barf:

ahart04 08-05-2009 09:29 PM

A thread came up about this a some days ago, and I got the feeling that members here wanted the Camaro in NASCAR, I think some were saying it would be good publicity, worrying about the hoards of Mustang fans and the future of GM.

Here, I found the thread.http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=camaro+NASCAR

that is one ugly car. isnt that just a photoshopped picture thought? not as in like edited but like it was just created.

Unfair 08-05-2009 09:31 PM

looks like a photoshop but yea pretty ugly.

jpsuperman81 08-05-2009 09:32 PM

I can't stand NASCAR at all but that stang does look horrible, glad they won't be doing that to the camaro.

SleepWarz 08-05-2009 09:35 PM

Call me when they actually use stock cars.

Pretty poor depiction, especially of a NASCAR Car of Tomorrow. Nowhere near within specs and definitely not what it would look like.

The Pony cars are only being allowed in the NationWide Series. The Photoshop pic is rather close to the new cars for next year. I think another main reason Chevy declined the Camaro is the cost for their support. They already have the Impala in place, and after getting bailed out it wouldn't look good putting money in another direction.....

Doing this to a Camaro would be a sin!

zebra 08-05-2009 10:10 PM

that mustang makes me wanna :barf: even more than the regular ones!
thank-you, GM, for not succumbing to degrading our classic icon like that.

i agree with having a GT2 car using the BIWs

I hope you're right that the real thing will look 500 times better. That rendering is a disgrace to the Stang and America Muscle Cars.

Badger44 08-05-2009 11:54 PM

I've said it for years now, NASCAR needs to adopt Grand AM Rolex GT rules. If Grand AM and figure out how to make tube chassis cars appear like stock, run production based engines and keep the field level surely NASCAR could. Rolex GT has Pontiac, BMW, Porcshe, and Mazda all running neck and neck with stock appearing and stock based engines. The true meaning of win on Sunday, sell on Monday!

Props to GM for not bastardizing the Camaro styling!!

KIMBERSSGIRL1 08-06-2009 01:18 AM

Ewww... That render of a Nationwide Mustang looks horrid! But then all the NASCAR cars do since they are all basically using the same hand made body with different Manufacturer decals stuck all over them.
Agree! Would be great in the Rolex GT Class or some class with the Vette that the body would appear close to stock! That's what I want to watch!
Bring back the Trans-Am Series and International Race of Champions!

Although were Fans of Dale Earnhardt Jr and Tony Stewart I hate the look of the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series cars.
Way to go GM for not disgracing the Camaro and make it something it is not just to be in NASCRAP! Pace cars are fine for now there!
I'd love to see a NHRA Pro Stock 2010 Camaro with old Bill Grumpy Jenkins!
