My 2SS and Custom Painted Rally Stripes

9 Attachment(s)
Here are pictures of my ride. Got it on 7/28 after 9 months of waiting, had it a week then gave him up to have custom Rally stripes painted on. The Rally stripes are Corvette Crystal Red Metalic. Added a few additional items, I am sure you can pick them out. Finally got to detail him and took these pictures yesterday. And yes I named it...Butch. Kind of fitting don't you think? :burnrubber:

Thanks - I wanted to go a little more retro and got that idea from the 67' Camaro. Glad you all like it.

Very beautiful car. Love the stripes. My stripes are almost identical. IOM w/black.

Man, that black is so gorgeous....

....I only wish it wasn't such a ***** to keep clean or that might be the one in my driveway right now...with IOM stripes and IOM interior.

After 3 1/2 years with my black 02SS, it was SIMPLE for me to say NOT A CHANCE IN H3LL! 30 seconds outside of my garage and it was dusty. Heck, it got dusty just sitting in my garage overnight!

jayson71 08-24-2009 12:28 AM

HOT!!!!! I love it! How much? I am looking into getting mine done and have a few quotes but nothing solid yet.

SSGator 08-24-2009 07:18 AM

Thanks for the comments guys, I definitely put a lot of thought into this combo. I am pleased with the end result. I used Turtle Wax Ice and was very pleased with the results. The stripes were done by Jon Maynard in Smyrna, GA (ATL) for $1,600, you can't even feel the stripes, smooth as a baby's butt and well worth the bucks.

Black is a pain but it is all worth it to me.

Man, that does look great...I have been trying to figure out what to do under the word "Camaro" on the finders...the flag rocks, I think I may do that also. Great idea.

SSGator 08-24-2009 08:29 AM

You can get these from Rick's Camaros for $16. They are die cast metal and very well made, not the cheap plastic crap GM put on the car. You will have to cut the prongs off the back but well worth it. Here is a link to his website. http://www.rickscamaros.com/dept.asp...d=3269&level=1

cerberus 08-24-2009 09:07 AM

thanks for the site, I will be ordering them shortly...man, I think it just those emblems set off the sides. Thanks again.

SSGator 08-24-2009 11:48 AM

Sure and be sure to check all their other cool stuff.

Gabe 08-24-2009 11:50 AM

WOW! That red really pop's on that black Camaro. NICE!!

third1 08-24-2009 11:57 AM

Look good paint is the only way to go IMO

jdurhan 08-24-2009 12:53 PM

SSGator "Butch" looks HOT, very tastefully done. I wouldn't have expected anything less than perfection from you, all the mods look great, even the dice..lol Love his name, I named mine Marland..lol long story about the name but fits him. I picked him up last Saturday, here's a pic.

Very nice.. there are some thing you can only pull off with Black IMO and yours looks amazing! I'm considering swapping out the SS badges on mine for the white ones. I think they go better that the red with IOM and black for that matter.

Hoddi 08-24-2009 01:39 PM

Butch is fitting!

9 months -- you poor thing. I'm glad your wait is OVER!!!

Congratulations :happyanim:

Looks fantabulous :D

SSGator 08-24-2009 02:17 PM

Thanks Jim, that CGM is looking pretty fine. I almost went that route as well.

And to me clear to everyone, the stripes are not IOM; they are the Corvette Crystal Red Metallic. Personally the IOM just doesn't do anything for me.

SSGator 08-24-2009 08:14 PM

Just posted a new thread with my matching custom painted engine cover to match my stripes, check in out.

Emblems

I have to ask you, how did you "glue" them on.

That is simple. You can go to any decent auto parts store and buy a small roll of 3M automotive tape. It is sticky on both sides and works like a charm. The trick is to make sure you clean the surface first. Your bowties are mounted the same way as well as the SS or RS emblems.

very very nice and clean car... im a fan!
