UK visitor

Hi New Englanders,
I’m a C5UK owner, headed to NH, MA, ME & CT in Late Sept/early Oct for a few weeks holiday visit. My wife wants to go see trees in the fall, mountains and lakes and stuff. Meanwhile, I am VERY interested in visiting a speed store or two, a Chevy performance dealer (Chevy dealer support in UK is almost non-existent), seeing some racing (drags or ovals) and general guy stuff. Any tips on good stuff & places I should check out would be really, really appreciated. Similarly, if any of you guys get to do a ‘cultural’ visit to the UK I’d be real happy to reciprocate. Oh, and is the temperature warm enough in Sept/Oct to maybe hire a Camaro convertible? Thanks in anticipation, Ed.

Hi Ed, My name is Sal and I live in Stamford, CT. The good colors will be up north at the time your coming, N.H. will probably be the best. Down where I live peak foliage is about the third week of October. There may be a few good days for a convertible when you come but most of the time you would have the top up. I got my car built by Jannetty Racing Enterprises in Waterbury, CT. You should visit them when you are down. Let me know when you are in my area and maybe we can hook up. My number is 203-866-9293. Have a safe trip.

While in New Hampshire try and stop in at New England Dragway .

Ed, Depending on the timing of your trip check out Lime Rock Park. Its a road course in Connecticut. Some really great action in October and the setting is great for a picnic on the outfield during the racing. The fall colors will be out for this one. Also if you want to see NHRA Top Fuel Drag Racing check Maple Grove Raceway. Its in Reading Pennsylvannia. The Keystone Nationals are October 1st to 4th. I may be going...Not sure yet too far in to the future. I also am only a few miles from Jannetty. Ted gives a great personal tour of his shop. Good luck with plans. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions. Cheers, Rich

Thanks to all you guys - I'm really grateful - I may pester you all individually (if that's OK?) for more detail on your responses. (apologies for the delay in responding - time difference!) Have a great weekend guys - mine will mostly consist of hooning my SS around the Cotswold Hills and shooting (though prob not at the same time!) Cheers, Ed

Check out the Northeast rod run. It's the first weekend in oct and drive around with others checking out the site of New England. This awesome if you like to cruise around in your car.

Heck, maybe even our yearly gathering at Devens for autocross, depending when in Sept?

Thanks guys; keep it coming - I got two weeks to fill and you can only look at so many trees and lakes. Thanks a bunch, Ed.

If you do decide to rent a Camaro, listen to chevy 3 and check us out over at www.northeastrodrun.com. You can also find us on Facebook with lots of pictures.

We take the first weekend in October and travel all over New England (and even further) to check out cool sights, great driving roads and some of the best foliage you will ever see.

Some people are staying in Princeton, Massachusetts here: http://www.wachusettvillageinn.com/ on Thursday, October 1st, but there is no discount set-up there, because that is mainly just for people coming in from longer distances, but that is only minutes away from our first mountaintop drive that will be happening Friday morning.

On Friday morning, the rest of the group will be hooking up and travelling to Burlington, Vermont. Saturday night we will be spending our time in Rutland, Vermont, before heading over to Lake Placid, New York on Sunday for our highlight day of the entire trip. That was the location of the 1932 & 1980 winter Olympic games and we will be checking out a lot of those sites. On Monday morning about half of the group will be cruising back to New England so you would still have more time cruising in a group.

If you decided to join us, you would be cruising with up to 50 other hot rod enthusiasts for 3 to 4 days straight.

You will also not have to worry about depending on random internet sites in hope of finding decent lodging, because our lodging is already set-up, AT GREATLY DISCOUNTED RATES. You also would end up with a sort of personally guided tour in a foreign country, getting to see some sites that even people that live around here don't know existed. You can also get some great leads from other people on the trip, where you can visit after you're done with us.

We have people come from all over the eastern half of the United States, along with Canada join us every year (this is our 8th year), but we have never had anyone join us from across the pond before.

I know if it was me and I was going to a foreign country, I would love to get an offer like this, but maybe you're different?

All you need is a rented muscle car (Camaro, Mustang, Challenger) and a sense of adventure, then you will be all set.

If you do check out our Facebook page and our website and still end up with more questions, the best way to get quick responses from me is to send an email off to me at northeastrodrun@yahoo.com

Really hope to see you in October.

This sounds awesome! The only possible fly in the ointment (sorry; that's Brit for a minor prob) is that we don't get into JFK until Sunday 4th Oct or we would be all over this. I'm gutted; may even have a word with the boss to see if she'll take a hit on altering flights.

If you are doing NH, hit the Kancamangus Highway. Its a pretty good driving road and supposed to be one of the best places in the US to view fall foliage. It's located in the white mountains so thats also a pretty cool place to check out!

That's a bummer.

I'm sure you would have had an awesome time. Obviously the scenery is awesome, the cars are cool, but it's the greatest group of people that really makes the trip worthwhile.

Here is a video of our 2013 cruise. This is the type of scenery we usually take in. Hopefully the link works.
