Mustang vert only comes in v6? Will camaro?

I was bored here at work and went to price a vert mustang GT to figure out a semi close number for my camaro. Apparantly, they don't sell a GT vert.

What gives?

Maybe something is wrong with the Ford site but you can by a GT vert.

yeah you'll definitely be able to get your camaro what ever in either drop top or coupe... i want a hard top vert though... you know like the XLR?

Mindz 05-13-2008 03:31 AM

Maybe it's not customizable other than a special edition.

As for the hard top vert, I would like it, but it's too expensive for a pony car.

i wonder if there are companies that can make them...

Mindz 05-13-2008 03:50 AM

Definitely something to look into. They have them for mustangs (after market kits). Search youtube and you might find some info.

I wanna do a custom door mod but it'll be a PITA to do either of the two that I want to do. =(

what door mod you wanna do? lambo or suicide doors? i think that this car might look ok with lambos, but the suicide doors you'll have to really sell me on...

Mindz 05-13-2008 04:58 AM

suicide lambo was one. Out and back (minivan-esque) is the second one.

I just went to Ford's site and they offer a GT Premium and a GT Deluxe in convertible... so I guess maybe it was just a bad day on the site when you couldn't build one.

I had the opportunity to see one with a hard top...very impressive. I have never been to big on the vert, but if it was a hard top, I would have to do some thinking...

I guess this requires a whole different thread, but does anyone know the details or pros/cons to a hard top vert?

Mindz 05-15-2008 08:16 PM

Added Weight (400ish)--
electronics that might go wrong --
Price for hydraulics/motor (2,000?) ----

Hardtop that has open air mode also? ++++++

As you can see the cons outweight the pros for me.

lafountain 05-16-2008 06:22 AM

GT Deluxe Convertible starts at $31,065 and the GT Premium Vert starts at $32,245.

radz28 05-16-2008 09:29 AM

I'm sure they'll have a V6 in a 'vert too; it wouldn't make sense otherwise. I think it would only go to serve a lot bigger audience; the more options the better.

OverAnxious 05-16-2008 02:26 PM

I'd take a new Convertible personally

Camaro_crazy 05-16-2008 03:33 PM

I would love a hard top vert but it will never happen for the camaro. Its a lot more expensive, a lot heavier, a pain in the ass to build, thus making it a pain in the ass to fix if one of the many electrical parts fails.

And I also like the lambo door idea. I wonder how it would look. a Good kit for lambo doors is damn expensive though.

Emher 05-16-2008 04:58 PM

Screw hardtop vert, I want a true hardtop coupe with rolldown windows in the back!

z28collection 06-04-2008 09:30 AM

hard top vert

isnt pontiacs G-6 vert a hardtop. that car is not out of this world expensive is it? ive never really seen one up close or priced one. what do you guys think?

TAG UR IT 06-04-2008 11:26 AM

I believe it's offered as a hard top. I'd take one for the Camaro in a heartbeat. I reallllly want the mohawk look w/ hard top coupe design, but LOVE the t-tops...since we can't get those, .....shoot. You get what I mean...

T-tops first,
Targa second,
Hard top Vert third
coupe fourth....

is how I'd take'em.

Design1stCode2nd 06-05-2008 11:34 AM

Was just on Ford's site, you can build a GT Convertible so don't know what you were seeing.

Mindz 06-05-2008 04:51 PM

it's on the site now. 2 weeks ago it wasn't.

35701 for my car that's with 1k "customer cash" back.

with 15k down payment and a 4500 trade in, that's 301 a month for 60 months at 1.9% apr.

Should be doable.

ElCameeeno 10-29-2010 01:39 PM

It looks like if you want the glass roof option though you are stuck with the V6. I can't find it for the GT.
