IS ANYONE BUYING THE Z/28's

I see them on ebay and dealer lots and I guess no one is buying them. The prices have fallen way way down and they still are not selling. The dealer close to me has had theirs since the 15 models rolled out and he had it in the show room but now it is outside. Everyone bitched about the price being to high when they became available now they are priced right I believe and they still are not selling. What is causing these not to sell? Is it the ecomony or money is tight now or what do you think?

:noidea: I bought one.

I want one for a daily driver, just don't have space for one.

The 6th Gen is your main reason, then price. Not many folks want to spend $60k+ on a car with no goodies except a 427.

Even when there was no 6th Gen, the Z28 was a tough sell. For the same money, you can get a Vette and get better performance, plus creature comforts. Or for less money, get an SS, and get the same look, more comfort and less performance.

That leaves a very small, niche market. The idiotic Chevy salesmen don't help. I looked at one last year and was told, "You don't want that, that's a race car. It doesn't even have AC.."... Then he led me over to the Corvettes.

I appreciate what GM did with the Z28. They made a track car. I think they could've sold a boat load of them if they'd just dumped a 427 into an SS, put some special badges on it and raised the price by 10k.

I can't agree with ^^this statement^^.

I test drove a Z51 Stingray and ZL1 Camaro, and I owned a 2015 1LE before I bought my 2015 Z/28. None of those three cars can hold a candle to the performance of a Z/28. The Stingray has a much better interior and technology, but the performance felt totally underwhelming... And I really wanted to like the Stingray.

I do agree that the Z/28 is a tough sell, but from my POV it has nothing to do with Stingrays or SS's. I think all of the marketing as a track-only car has scared potential buyers off.

Q: Why would any rational person pay ~$60,000 for a ZL1 when they could get a Z/28 for the same price?
A: Because they haven't driven one, and they buy the hype that the Z/28 is ill-mannered on the street.

As most people that have driven one know, it is a great car on the street. No more harsh than the C6 Z06 that I owned previously. If anyone is on the fence, buy it. But only if you enjoy waves, thumbs-ups, and endless questions everytime you drive it...

No goodies except a 427?

What about $15,000 carbon ceramic brakes?! DSSV dampers?! Aero-package that creates 400 lbs of downforce?!

That's reasonably exotic stuff for ~$60,000...

It's a super tough sell. Very niche. I like to believe I'm very performance oriented not bothered buy a stiff ride. When I test drove the Z/28 on our shitty northeast potholed roads, I was shocked. Rode harder than a few track day weapons I've owned.

Another issue a lot of dealers not willing to put their real number on the window. Hoping someone will fall of the turnip truck and give them 70k. When I bought mine the dealer had "slashed" the price from sticker price for an A/C car "way down to 72k." I knew people were driving them home for $62-65k. Had to play the game for hours before making a square deal.

I only bought mine because I wanted something different. I knew I would only track it a few times like I did my 07 Z06. If it wasn't "rare". I wouldn't have even given it a second look.

I used to see one Victory Red Z06 every time I was out in mine. Haven't seen a single other Z/28 driving around ever. Actually there are at least 5 C7 Z06s in my town already. (Don't get me wrong they are awesome)

Taking it to Limerock next week. I expect to see a few there.

For your average Joe a ZL1 is so much better and my dealer has a brand new one of those for 47ish talk about bang for you buck!!!

G6flyer..... My 07 Z06 drove like a Cadillac vs my new Z/28

G6Flyer 08-31-2015 06:34 PM

Mine drives about the same.
