2010's Sold Out !

Just Kidding !

brAnd7onX 11-17-2009 03:15 PM

If you mean theres still a waiting list to get the orders approved and produced then yeah their sold out..... that doesn't mean there not going to make anymore if thats what u were implying.

Every car that will be a 2010 model, even if it hasn't been built yet,is sold !

Don't shoot the messenger and believe me trust the source.

I don't know if it is common knowledge or not. so, I am not revealing my source but it is from inside the four walls at Oshawa.

You can take from it what ever you want... I copied and pasted his reply as written without his name.

They just seem to have more orders than they can fill before the model year runs out.

Still taking orders just will be 2011's

Don't know when there model change happens but usually July for most cars.
Just guessing on that one....:iono:

But why would they stop making 2010's early when they are selling the way they are. If anything they would be extending the model end year instead of cutting it short...

DarricSS 11-17-2009 03:39 PM

I am sure any dealer that has available allocations will take 2010 SS orders till around March.

ShnOmac 11-17-2009 03:44 PM

Im not agreeing or disagreeing with the OP's post.... But I was thinking about this yesterday! lol

I wonder how they are going to work the year change with so many orders for 2010's in the system.... they have to stop building 2010's sometime!

camaro5 11-17-2009 03:50 PM

They will probably switch over to 2011's in June.

I'm sure the SS constraint is impacting the production schedule.

Many of these "sold" units are headed for dealer lots. Almost 5000 available on cars.com.

trickortreat 11-17-2009 03:57 PM

I'm confused.

So I can't just walk into a dealer on a Saturday and pick one up from the 8 they had in stock? Cause that's what I did. The dealer also mentioned I could order one if I wanted and it would take 4 to 6 months to get here. Fortunately, the one they wanted magically showed up a week or so ago.

TaylorRyanSS 11-17-2009 04:16 PM

So you are saying if I went and ordered a camaro right now it would be built as a 2011? I was thinking they were going to start taking orders for 2011s around july of next year

ABM 2SS 11-17-2009 04:23 PM

Why not add an extra shift at the plant? I thought the new President of GM was reluctant to do that because he thought the demand wound tail off. I find it hard to beleive that GM would cut off oders before doing everything they could to sell as many cars as they could!

Revo1 11-17-2009 04:24 PM

Eh, it's ok :iono:

Won't be able to afford mine until model year 2012, most likely...

Dboy23 11-17-2009 04:25 PM

The dealership I service my Camaro at has like 10-12 cars on the lot (if not more) and I'm sure they've sold at least 50 or more already I remember the day after Veterans day a guy that works there told me they sold 9 cars just that day.

Angrybird 12 11-17-2009 04:25 PM

This is very hard to believe since it isn't even 2010 yet....My dealer does not know anything about it either... of course I Ordered a V6 and he told me that the order would be going in this week or next.

ABM 2SS 11-17-2009 04:27 PM

If there are 19,000 orders and they are producing 480 per day, thats only 39.5 days, I am ringing the bullsh!t bell on this one.

Lets round up, 40 days.

Today (11/17)
Wednesday (11/18)
Thursday (11/19)
Friday (11/20)
Saturday (11/21) - 5 days

Monday (11/23) - 11 days

Monday (11/30) - 17 days

Monday (12/07) - 23 days

Monday (12/14) - 29 days

Monday (12/21) - 35 days

Monday (12/28) - 41 days

Take off two days for Christmas and Thanksgiving so basically by the end of this calender year exactly the 19,000 cars should be built. Confirming the bullshit call. I'm pretty sure they've only built like 65,000 out of the 100,000 they said they were going to build for this (model) year. If you do the math (65k + 19k = 84k) there's still 16,000 more to be built so basically 34 days, so by early to mid February is when they'll "stop building 2010 model cars".

Listen guys ...I am done. If my source wants to come forward you can hash it out with him. He knows whats going on in that plant..trust me on this one.

I am only passing info that came from a reliable dealer...a Supervisor in Oshawa and my own experience.

I got my two (Both Blown!) one auto one 6 speed, and Loving it. Just feeling bad for my buddy who was just a day or so late. I got two he has none. But I ain't giving mine up.

You believe what you will..I don't know it for fact, but if I was in court right now I think I could convince a jury....

Best of Luck....

You guys can hash this out...and if I am wrong You can Flame away. I can take it. After all I started this thread... CarGuy Out !:confused0068:

Just trying to help a brother out.:headbang:

Before you run out on us would you be willing to help a little bit with clearing this up, I see from your sig you received your car on 11/10, would you be able to provide your production number (last 5 of your VIN) so we can do the math from there to the 100,000 mark?

armysig 11-17-2009 04:42 PM

I placed my order last Monday, The dealer had to do a call in order to complete it. I just got a copy of the build order last night.

I'm just getting the basics.

1SS, Inferno Orange, RS package.

Dealer estimates delivery sometime around late Jan, early Feb.

2010 SSRS 11-17-2009 04:44 PM

There are 4 2SSRS Camaros here in RI at Balise Chevrolet, anyone interested call Brian LaNinfa, there is an IBM, IOM, SIM, and a Black one, all Standard shift except the IBM.

BeckyD@RodgersChevrolet 11-17-2009 04:51 PM

I think someone is trying to describe allocation and constraints. I can tell you for certain the the SS's ordered this week will all be 2010 models. The SS production is still less than 100%, but they are still building them. Model year change won't be til summer some time.

Black_2SS 11-17-2009 04:53 PM

They are only up in the 50,000 production mark. My vin is 52396 and it was built 10/2009. Don't they share some production w/ the corvette for the ls3? That could also hold things back if they use the same engine plant!

**OOPS*** Sorry missed that last post. Well they were at the 50K mark in Oct, hows that.

They cuirrently have 19000 cars as sold orders for 2010.. that are not built.

They are building around 480 cars a day six days a week.

Take out holidays....you do the math.

:character0109:

Your math doesn't add up.

Let's just take the six months from January through June (Nov and Dec will be used as holiday days). There are about 150 production days left.

Building 480 cars per day equals 72,000 cars possibly being built. Now there will probably be some parts shortages that will drop that number somewhat, but nowhere near the 19,000 you quote. Maybe 55,000 to 60,000.

Line changes for existing models (no die changes) usually take no time at all, but they will close the plant for two weeks probably around July 1 (Canada Day) to do the change over with 2011 models being produced the 3rd or 4th week of July and on lots in late August.

Dboy23 11-17-2009 05:08 PM

Car #65513 was built and shipped the 11/10 So I'll start the math from the 11th Rounding up let's say 72 *Production Days*

Wednesday (11/11)
Thursday (11/12)
Friday (11/13)
Saturday (11/14) - 4 days

Monday (11/16) - 10 days

Monday (11/23) - 16 days

Monday (11/30) - 22 days

Monday (12/07) -28 days

Monday (12/14) - 34 days

Monday (12/21) - 40 days

Monday (12/28) - 46 days

Monday (1/4) - 52 days

Monday (1/11) - 58 days

Monday (1/18) - 64 days

Monday (1/25) - 70 days
Tuesday (1/26 - 71 days
Wednesday (1/27) - 72 days

That's with 100,000 cars being built, lets say 10 days off (work days) for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years.

Monday (2/9) - 68 days
Tuesday (2/10) - 69 days
Wednesday (2/11) - 70 days
Thursday (2/12) - 71 days
Friday (2/13) - 72 days

So with that being said lets say a week to ship it (maybe a bit more) at the LATEST the last car should arrive at the dealership (that's estimating that they're only building 100,000 cars) by the end of February sometime, which seems to early to me.

ABM 2SS 11-17-2009 05:10 PM

Some people think the 2011 model starts in January. :sm0:

Mr_Draco 11-17-2009 05:15 PM

Hey carguy why are you bailing? because it's been proven that your "source" is mathematically wrong? Lets think about this for a minute. Canada has already taken their thanksgiving break weeks ago and they do not get their Christmas break until the 1st week of January. The 19,000 preordered cars WILL be built before the end of December easily.

The 2011 model change over is not until the 1st week of July and they do not stop taking orders until mid May - first of June. This is how it has ALWAYS been and it WILL NOT be any different for the Camaro and sure as hell won't be different for the SS. So what you pretty much are saying is that "hey guys my moron for a source says that for 5 months after all of the current sold orders are filled you will not be able to buy a SS, which is the hottest car in North America and I'm stupid enough to believe him. But don't worry they will still be making the other trims."

Next time before you go making a doom and gloom post get your facts straight and while your at, the next time your "inside source" tries to tell you something, DON'T LISTEN TO HIM. How does that saying go?

It's best to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are a moron then open it and prove them correct.

Ablue1 11-17-2009 05:17 PM

I think what he may be saying is that there are 19000 sold v8's in the system. If you have to build X# of v6 cars compared to V8 cars, all of the v8 cars may be allocated for production 2010 models. Coupled with the production of the engine t support the vette, the system may not be set up to build any more orders for 2010 v8's until 2011 model initiates. All the possible production of 2010 V8 builds may currently be allocated.

OUR72GTO 11-17-2009 05:20 PM

Here we go again.

Some Dealer who is an Idiot tells some "friend" what he thinks is happening and could not be more wrong.

OP rushes on here to proclaim the facts with assurances that source is solid.

Poster gets flamed by others who call BS and poster says " only conversation" after a few hundred have read it and tell EVERYONE they know it must be true.!

Conversations about what was to be back in 07 or 08 are worthless. The projections were based on the way the car business was then..... It is a whole new world now.

The 2010 CAMARO will be in available for 2009 and more than 1/2 of 2010.

Find the right dealer and get what you want.
