The "I don't care what engine it has I'm just glad we have a Camaro again " Thread..

Seriously. As much V6 bashing that still goes on by the guys from the good ol' boy club I want to acknowledge those that are just happy to have a Camaro again. You wonder what would happen to them if there were no V8 Camaro at all, well there'd be no "them".

Cheers to many more generations of Camaro to come!

it already is. :D

Amen to the price being the most important thing.

But frankly, a 300hp V6 with that sound might as well be a V8. To hell with the whole "A V6 Camaro isn't a real Camaro" crowd.

Long live the Camaro, regardless of what's under the hood!

Just the fact that Camaro is back, and looking as good as ever, is good enough for me :chevy:

Consider this: The 3.6 V6 in the '10 will probably destroy, both off the line and in the quarter, any 305 or 350 Z28 from the late 70's through the early 90's.

There was a time, not too long ago, when 0-60 in 7 seconds was considered "wicked fast" - and I think most of the Z28's in the 80s were around that.

The 3.6 is supposed to do it in 6.1 :headbang:

Here, here!!!!!

I just posted in another thread about all the complaining, while I am just happy to have the beloved F Body back!!:chevy:

EDIT: Oops missed the V6 part. I am a V8 fan, but if it only came with a V6, part of the Camaro heritage is chaning your Camaro to suit you! I would put a V8 in mine if there was none from the factory...

WHAT?!?!?!?!

This is like the best thread ever! :)

The 455?

Are we talking about Firebirds or Camaros?

And would that be a Pontiac 455? That would be greatness. Pontiac V8s sound better than any other GM V8. There is something undeniably sweet about the sound of a big Poncho at full tilt.

Oldsmobile 455? Ummm....well they did have an Olds 403 in the late 70's Formula Firebirds. I guess 455 isn't too much of a stretch.:iono: And like 'em or not, the 455 Rocket is pretty dayum cool.

Buick 455? Not in any F-body I know of....at least not from the factory.

But back on topic: I'm just happy to have an F-body again. Even if it's not one of my beloved Firebirds. A Camaro this beautiful is more than a consolation prize.

I'm ecstatic, and i'm just short of three years from getting mine! I'll be getting a V8, but nothing is wrong with a 300 Horse V6! Heck, my 91 Caprice with a V8 only puts out 180 horse!

Were you talking about my reference to the F-Body?

If so, then it might be a Zeta II chassis, but it will always be an F-body :headbang:

After 35 years of being called F-body's you can't change the name...

love that mentality. and everyone who thinks it is a moron.

a camaro IS a camaro if and only if it is a V-6.

what do i mean by that? 2 things
first (not so serious). you have a camaro...then you have an SS, then you have a Z28. point blank. lol

second (serious)
THIS CAR WOULD NOT BE HERE IF THERE WERENT A V-6!!!!! plain and simple. 90% of these "good 'ol boys" have probably never owned a v-8 camaro in their life and are just living off the badass v-8, power hungry, hype of yesteryear. i mean seriously, did you think they were only going to make 2 v-8s and be able to sell enough of them to be worth a damn?

no. so get off it.

Cessna510 07-25-2008 11:13 PM

Wow didn't realize that people actually had that mentality! I'm a v-8 kinda guy and have owned 1 or 2 ;) but v-6 or v-8 a camaro is a camaro...and the damn thing has around the same hp as a 4th gen ls1.
