P. Ham's IOM (Int. & Ext.) Auto 2LT RS w/ GFX

Here is my current mod list. I don't anticipate going too far as I don't have the neccessary skills. The most customizing I have ever done on a car is window tint. This list will be an on going plan or wish list I can add to or check off. I'll see how far I can go.

Exterior:
Custom paint job - DONE! (Thank's to Womack Chevrolet and their awesome paint & body shop. See pics below)
  • Orange front bow tie
  • Black back bow tie
  • Black hood spears
  • Black side view mirrors
  • Black door handles
  • Black front fascia
  • Black spoiler
  • Black GFX
  • Black tail lights
  • Black side signal lights

Gill vinyls - 2 different sets combined. STARTED! I put the first set on.....still need to do the second set. Not sure I like it...:(
New Spoiler - NLP - DONE!
New Wheels - Something with chrome and black (similar to GM's 21" upgrade)
Custom Plates (Time Me) - DONE!
Custom License Plate Frame - Cheap black one for 8 bucks - DONE!
License Plate Light - DONE! from AAC. Really bright!
Front License Plate Mounting Solution - Probably do zip ties
Dual color changing LED turn signal bulbs - v-leds.com or Stealth Bulbs - StealthAuto.com (Decided to hold off. I like the subtle color difference in the front.)
Sequential Turn Signals - DONE! from Web Electric. Easy install. Looks great!
Emblems
....
Interior:
Red/Amber Dome/Trunk Light - DONE! RED from AAC. Wish it was brighter but can't expect much with the color red. Still cool!
Gas Cap Caddy - GasCapCaddy.com
Emblems
....
Under the hood:
Exhaust - MRT 2.0 - DONE!

Very nice!!

Capstone 12-05-2009 09:33 AM

Well done. Very clean and it really pops with out getting gawdy... I know you have a V6 so I can't say what the SLP LM II will sound like, but I am very happy with my results. With your Gfx it may not matter much from the "look" anyways.

P. Ham 12-05-2009 11:59 PM

Just ordered the Red LED conversion kit and the Bright License Plate LEDs from AAC. I also order the sequential lights from Web Electric (I don't care I like em!). The problem is they are presents so I have to wait until Christmas to install. :( I was going to go for the amber LEDs but I didn't want to chance it looking dull and dingy. Hopefully the red will still work with IOM.....if not I can always go back to stock or go bright white LEDs on the dome lights.

Thanks. I was a little worried it would turn out gawdy but was pleasantly surprised. And I know I wont get anything near the sound your V8 has but if I can get just a little more growl out of her I'll be happy.

Just installed the first set of gill vinyls from Auto Trim Designs. I still need to install the second set of gloss black accents I found on eBay. Maybe do them tomorrow if weather is ok. Hopefully the second set will line up right.

Just doing some quick photoshops of the NLP spoiler. Trying to see if I'll like it.

I just pulled the trigger on my new license plate.....after a very looooong list of crappy possibilities. I'm happy with this one.

IOM :)

P. Ham 12-29-2009 09:01 AM

Installed the red LEDs in the dome and trunk. They're bright (as much as red can be) but not as noticeable as I'd like outside the car. It makes the IOM interior pop. Looks good though and goes well with IOM which I was worried about. Glad I didn't go with amber. It would have been too dark.

License plate lights are really bright. They glow bright behind the car!

Installed the sequential lights. I think they look really cool! Very easy install.

Just got a call today that my custom plates are in. Need to go pick them up.

caper 12-29-2009 10:31 AM

what are the tail light blackouts, how do they work (can u see velcro etc?) thanks.

P. Ham 12-29-2009 11:43 AM

Two coats of black paint on the tail lights. No stick-ons.

caper 12-29-2009 11:56 AM

did you paint them yourself? what paint did you use?

P. Ham 12-29-2009 12:13 PM

Dealer painted them. I'm guessing they used the same black used on the rest of the parts. DuPont Chroma Premier Black Code 8555.

P. Ham 12-31-2009 01:06 AM

Picked up my plates today.

Looks nice you are doing a good job on the car.

P. Ham 12-31-2009 02:41 AM

Thank you 2SSRS.

Here are the red LEDs on the interior and bright white LEDs on plates.

I've been looking for a good way to black out the taillights. I love yours. Next time you talk to your dealer, could you confirm the paint they used? I really didn't realize that painting the taillights was an option. I don't like the vinyl or the acryslic "stick on" velcro kind either. I don't think they'd last. Someone told me the acrylic ones allow moisture behind and get nasty. I have been looking for a solution like yours but I don't want to mess it up.

CAM MAN 12-31-2009 06:36 PM

:thumbsup:Was it hard to install your sequeltail lights? Thank's

I was surprised when they told me they used paint as well. Just keep in mind it's a permanent option. Someone said it may not pass inspection if too dark. I hope I don't run into any issues later. I plan on ordering a spoiler soon and will probably have it shipped directly to the dealer for paint and to save me a trip (an hour drive there). I will try to confirm the paint they used for the lights when I set that up. Do you know when you'll be getting your car? Will you have your car painted by the dealer or somewhere else?

It was painfully easy. It's literally just unplug and replug. Just follow the short instructions and make sure to hook up the correct bulbs (the outer bulbs). I made the mistake of doing the inner bulbs and it makes them sequence backwards. No biggie. If I can do it, trust me, you can do it. ;)

P Ham:
Thanks for checking on the paint. I got a quote from my dealer to paint spears on my hood and they want $800. Ouch. I seem to remember reading that your dealer got $275 to do your spears (which I just love). I wish I lived closer to your dealer!

My brother and his buddy have a custom paint shop and they do great work. The problem is they live 400 miles from me. I asked him if they could do the spears, paint the strip between my taillights, and black out my bowties over a long weekend. He said they could. So, I think I'll be driving there over spring break to get that work done.

My big concern with that was if I had to leave the keys with them. He said no. ;)

Any updates Ham? You haven't been online in awhile.

P. Ham 06-10-2010 09:08 PM

No updates yet. I'm holding out buying anything right now because I'm in the process of buying my first house (with a garage...YAY!). I should be moving in three weeks. Part of the problem is I haven't been able to drive my car much. Someone sideswiped my other car in the apartment parking lot so I decided I don't want to take a chance of my Camaro getting hit too so I've been storing it at my parents until I move out. I only get to drive it every other weekend. I only have about 800 miles on it since December! I'm pretty sure once I drive this beast every day I'll be more motivated to get off my butt and finish my wish list.....that is....if I have any spending money left. Thanks for asking!
