How do you remove the shift knob?

If you have a manual the info you want is in this video. It's about 1 minute in.

This Barton video is by far the best I've seen on this - step by step. Good job Barton.

I got a shifter boot from DSV Customs. Now I know how to put it on. Thanks!

Can you post some pics of your boot? Did you get just the leather piece, or does it include the plastic 'frame' that snaps into the console?

Just pull and wiggle it like a teenage bitch and then it will pop right off and smack you in the chin and you will see stars and Farrah Fawcett

lmfao. I did the barton and when I was jerking on the thing that was the only thing I could think of happening. I actually thought I was gonna end up punching the rear view off the window or something stupid like that. I have *THAT* kind of luck. Everything worked out though.

I bought the Barton SS/RS pistol grip handle and I love it. I watched their video but I still had a heck of a time getting the old shifter knob off. I actually gave up the first time I tried it and got a couple of big screw drivers to pry it off. Before of boogering anything up with the screw drivers I decided to get in the drivers seat on my knees and I pulled like heck and it finally popped off.

After you gently pull up and remove the silver trim and gauges you remove the 4 screws holding the boot down then twist and pull on the shift knob while trying to not knock yourself out. I found it helps to get a large screw driver and a wrench and use it to pry it up a bit. Then it pops right off.

So I was reefing like a mutherf#%^er trying to remove my old shifter knob
And saw on almost every forum and instructional video that everyone kept pulling up on it (insert pun here) , with some literally giving themselves black eyes.

Well after an hour of cursing, I lifted up the boot and I took a pair of pliers and gripped directly across the metal stick just below the knob (literally level and touching bottom of knob). Then firmly lifted up one side of the pliers about 45 degrees and the knob slowly glided up and off the stick.

There you go! Much easier than a punch in the face or kick in the balls for that matter wasting all that time pulling on it lol :p
