FROM Edmunds:

"DETROIT — From the department of WTF comes the release of the first official image of the 2010 Camaro SS. The reveal, such as it is, comes in an advertising photo spread Chevy has produced with New York magazine publishing giant, Conde Nast.

The advertisement is part of Conde Nast's free supplement Fashion Rocks — which we suppose explains why singer Fergie is photographed beside the car.

In Chevy-speak, the SS means a Camaro powered by the (estimated) 422 horsepower 6.2-liter V8. And, while it doesn't look much different than the V6 RS models that the company has released photos of, there are some telltale differences. The mail-slot air intake on the top of the deeper front fascia is a full production piece. This is to say nothing of the "SS" badge in the grille. Also, the big front brake rotors are the 14-inchers carrying big Brembo calipers. There's not enough detail in the photograph to tell, but the calipers will carry both the Brembo and Chevrolet names.

The Camaro SS will go on sale in mid-March 2009 — the same time as the V6 models. The V6 cars will start in the low $20Ks and the SS will sneak in under the $30,000 mark.

If that pricing is true, then that's it. I'm sold, GM's built a champion.

Scotsman 08-21-2008 04:34 PM

Hott indeed.

Camaro_Corvette 08-21-2008 04:55 PM

Nice body lines...hehehe

RB43TD 08-21-2008 04:57 PM

    And Fergie's not bad either. ;)

JEFF2010SSMANUAL 08-21-2008 05:06 PM

I HOPE the SS comes in at $29,995.00

Plus Boston, SS2, RS, maybe only $35k.

blackZbandit 08-21-2008 05:11 PM

damn... i was hoping the Brembo's would be red so I don't have to pull em off and break out the caliper paint... aww well, maybe GM will surprise me @ launch.

chevydude26 08-21-2008 05:12 PM

very nice...but I am so switching the front bumper...sorry for beating a dead horse ...but other than that the car is freakin gorgeous... i'll take it with a side of fergie and nelly furtado..thank

nester7929 08-21-2008 05:21 PM

I usually don't like silver, but for some reason I keep envisioning a silver Camaro with a large single blue stripe.

$30k is acceptable. It's just a touch more than the premium Mustang GT, but it has enough in features to justify it. However, let's hope the mainstream public realizes it as well; at a glance, people will notice first that this costs more than the Mustang. Again, if I were GM I'd give it a bare bones trim that came in at exactly or a bit below the bare bones Mustang GT, but I'm very glad they didn't shoot themselves in the foot by assigning it a price tag over 30k.

That's assuming this information is reliable; this is Edmunds after all.

I think the SS badge would look better where the bowtie is on the front, and it should be bigger.

I really hope the options don't cost 5K more.

couldnt have said it better myself

CHVY4LF 08-21-2008 06:04 PM

Thats right where i wanted the price

BitchinCamaro 08-21-2008 06:09 PM

Anyone remember the 4th gen Camaro ad motto...
"From the Country that invented Rock 'n' Roll."
Kind of sad that with Fergie its now...
"From the Country that invented Manufactured Pop."
Other than that the SS is awesome...

2010_5thgen 08-21-2008 06:32 PM

GOD i cant wait to get mine!!

Zieke 08-21-2008 06:37 PM

ok, i hate to be skeptical. but is this price of under 30k true?
i just want to hear it from one of the Moderators or big time Sr. members here. i dont want to get my hopes up, just to have them brought down.

TheMadHatter99 08-21-2008 07:47 PM

It's a magazine's statement so the price isn't official, but it is probably fairly close.

Brangeta 08-21-2008 08:14 PM

I like the 19 inch wheel design best, so hopefully those big ole Brembos will fit inside them! :headbang:
